I'm thinking about maybe starting a small Blood Angels force. I really like the DoA theme - Razor/Rhinorush I can do with my regular codex marines. I whipped up this first attempt of a list.

1000 points

HQ:
Librarian
- Fear of the Darkness, Shield of Sanguinius
- Jump pack
- Epistolary
=175

Elite:
2 Sanguinary Priests
- Jump packs
=150

Furioso Dreadnought
- Blood talons
- Drop pod
=160

Troops:

Assault Squad
- Meltagun
- Power weapon and hand flamer on Sgt.
=135

Assault Squad
- Meltagun
- Power weapon and hand flamer on Sgt.
=135

Assault Squad
- Meltagun
- Power fist and hand flamer on Sgt.
=135

Scout Squad
- Sniper rifles
- Missile launcher
- Camo cloaks
=100

The scouts are there for keeping the home objective while the rest of the army goes airborne assault on the enemy forces. I tested this list againts my Mechvet IG force and was surprised how quickly these guys killed Chimeras, Russes and Valkyries - while surviving lots of firepower thanks to 3+/FNP. So, what do you think of this list? Viable?

P.S.: My concern is that the librarian might be a bit out of place and/or too costly. Would gladly accept recommendations for alternatives there.

Well, it lacks synergy.
The Pod will arrive in 1st turn and the sniper Scouts should be deployed at the start (as infiltrators),
while the DoA Marines will eventually arrive later from turn 2 on.

Aye, I noticed that in the test game. The dread came in an instantly melta'd the Valkyrie out of the sky, but was directly killed after that. Probably some intelligent placement could help protecting him, but yeah, him arriving turn 2 would be nicer, I agree on that.

Well, I'd take a full DoA army.
Scouts and Dreads have no place here unless you want a balanced army.

Put the dreadnaught in a Stormraven and it will do just fine.

Well, in 1000 pt games, a Storm Raven is quite expensive.
This would change the character of the intended army.

Agreed

If nothing else is on the table besides scouts and dread, guess whats going to go first

Right.
With a DoA army, you have the chance that 75% of the army (on average) appears in turn 2.
Pick one flank and overwhelm the enemy there.
