Hey there everybody once again I find myself here to propose a list. I was digging in my basement and found a large amount of VC models that I bought like a year ago right before taking the 8 month long break. So as you can see im here to ask for advice on my 1k list. I would like this list to be somewhat competative even though I understand VC's arent as as they were in 7th ( The glory days ). Keep in mind I have alot of skeletons in my basement.( Also would a lord be a better choice over 2 lesser vamps or 1 lesser vamp plus BSB?) So without further ado my list :

Vampire Lord
Lord of the Dead and Dark Acolyte... 250pts

10 Skeleton Warriors
Command and Spears...110pts

10 Skeleton Warriors
Command and Spears...110pts

20 Crypt Ghouls
Crypt Ghast ...168pts

5 Dire Wolves
...40pts
20 Grave Guard
Command, Standard of Hellish Vigour and Great Weapons...315pts

So what do you guys think? Is a Lord a good idea at this point level. The Vampire would go with the skellies and buff em up to fighting strength, Ghouls would go and do their poisoned attack thing While Dire Wolves would go and (hopefully) hunt Warmachines. Grave Guard are always ( from my experience) a solid unit. I gave them the standard so they could keep away from the vamp and not be crippled. Input please!

TOTAL : 993pts

Hmm 10 skeles will do pretty much nothing. Better combine them although I dont recommend spears. Skeles rarely kill so they mind as well be resilient

Lord of the Dead allows me to increase the size of skellie units past there starting size, hence the reasoning behind me fielding 2 units of 10. Lord goes with em and along the way to the enemy buffs em up to alot more than 10

if you play against a shooty army, then you wont have the chance to buff them. i agree that the skellies should have hand weapons. the parry gives them more survilability
i dont know about the lord. why dont you take a vampire-combat and two necromancers to raise?

I have not tried a lord at 1k. It seems like too many points and you have little options equipment wise. I prefer a wight king and a hero at 1k. I also agree that 10 skelly units are in danger of getting shot or magicked off the board early. Lord of the dead is handy at low point levels though.
