So I just went out and bought the Codex last night and im playing my friend in a proxy battle tomorrow. I need to get a list together so I can start buying my army. were playing a 1250 pt game.

He will be playing CHAOS SPACE MARINES. He said hes taking Terminators, Havocs, Devastators, and Land Raiders...I have no idea what all that means other than Termis are crazy good...

Ok heres a 1250 pt list I threw together:

HQ: (230 pts)

Hive Tyrant
-Wings
-Dual Scything Talons

Troops: (470 pts)

20x Hormagaunts (160 pts)
-Toxic Sacs

3x Tyranid Warriors (110 pts)
- 2 with Deathspitters
- 1 with Barbed Stranglers

10x Genestealers (200 pts)
-1 BroodLord

Elites: (320 pts)

2x2 Hive Gaurds (200 pts)

2x Zoanthropes (120 pts)

Heavy Support: (200 pts)

Trygon (200 pts)

Total: 1220 pts

Basically I want to be as MUCH CC as possible! Should I take a Swarmlord? Should I take 2 units of genestealers? Find a way to fit in a vemonthrope? any strats against CSM i should try?
For my final 30 points...should I just give my genestealers Scything Talons or maybe give the Hive Tyrant "Old Adversary?"

omg I just saw how much the wings upgrade is on the hive tyrant....wow...I think I will consider switching to the prime!

If I trade the hive tyrant for the prime ill have 165 points. Should I give the warriors boneswords on TOP of the Deathspitters and Barbed Stranglers?

Should I just downgrade the gene stealers brood to 8 with a BL and take another brood of 8 for better outflanking?
Should I grab some Ravners for getting into CC faster?
Should I take 6 warriors in one brood? or just grab 3 more warriors and put them in their own

If you're playing Chaos Marines, I'd say boneswords are the way to go. If you're taking a Prime as your HQ, I'd say give it a Deathspitter and Lash Whip and Bonesword. Pop him in with the warriors and watch the fun as your 13 base attacks hit on 3's and ignore power armor. Also, if you've got 40 points laying around, I suggest upgrading the Trygon to a Prime.

well I did my first game every last night, and let me tell you...that was hard! The only vehicle he had was a rhino with Khone Beserkers in it. It was Capture and Control and you were right...I had nothing to hold an Objective at the end...but it didnt matter cause I tabled him. My Warriors got raped by the Berserkers so that sucked. My Hive Tyrant and Trygons were the MVP's of the match. Trygon took out a squad of Terms all by himself. and the Hive Tyrant took a squad of tactical marines, a dread naught and the remaining berserkers that were left after raping my warriors. My genestealers outflanked on the WRONG side of the board making me waste 3 turns to get into CC...

Honestly with the lack of Mech and poorly placed Objective by his part...I was allowed to use Cover for the most part. The main problem was that he never targeted my Trygon nor my Hive Tyrant. the first 2 rounds were him just killing my Gaunts. Ill type up a more detailed Battle report in a bit.
