I'm going up to New York for a GT next month (which the infamous stelek will be attending) and I'd rather like to put him in his place if we play. Along with doing well and all that jazz.

So here's the list I'm looking at.

You should use The Chester instead. (dont ask me where it got the name, thats just what I keep hearing it called at m FLGS)

The Chester = Skull Taker, 3 heralds (all different), 8 crushers with the full command upgrades.

Then take another cluster of fiends, drop those horrors and squeeze in another Soul Grinder just like the other two. Just my suggestions, based on what has wrecked most things around here.

I think it's pretty solid Yermom. You lack a little bit of ranged AT but to be honest I don't kill a lot with my bolts either so I can understand the swing toward the Thristers and Grinders. And to be honest there isn't a ton of melta out there on the top tables anyway so the Grinders will actually be more survivable than you'd think. Let us know how it does.

This list is a variant of the five MC style of play for daemons. To be honest I've never seen anyone field to Bloodthirsters but I think they will work well with your Blood Crushers. The greater daemons can act as a vanguard for the Crushers destroying walkers and landraiders. Three Soul Grinders is also hot. I would put two of your walkers in the second wave and screen them with the lesser daemons versus melter heavy armies. If you use the Chinese fire drill and keep all the lesser daemons spread out two inches apart in front of the Grinders the opponent's melter units won't be able to move into half range. Basically you can use lesser daemons to block just as some Tau players do with Piranhas. The walkers work very well versus Monoliths and TWC since they are S10 in assault and have a good number of attacks. The profile of the Soul Grinder is also very defensive versus blast since it's chassis is quite slim. Any scatter will move the center hole of the template off the walker's hull.

I like your list and think it will be very competitive.

Another note. Deathstrike is a good investment for the greater daemons since it extends your reach versus skimmers. Bloodthirsters are BS4 which is pretty darn good for an army heavy with Khorne.

Thanks for the replies guys! The girl friend has had all my time not already devoted to school so not too much time for painting let alone pposting . Anywho

@Caboose- That list is very, very good. Maybe a bit poor if the prefered wave doesn't come in but I really like it. If I had the models for heralds riding juggys and skulltaker I woul deffinitely test it, but in seeing how this thing is next week the time just does not exist. Also Id rather tongue for the grinders in that list to help kill the land raiders.

@Hulksmash- I'm trying out soulgrinders since I'm hoping they will just add too many threats to deal with.

@Sageheart- Yeah hope to see you there buddy!

@BloodthirSTAR- That's a tactic but not one I would employ in most games. I split the soul grinders between first and second waves depending on match up. And even still I dont want troops in front of my grinders because I do kind of need those to not die.

Death strike is also quite expensive for a gun I should only be firing once.

Okay it's not a tactic that you'd normally use but it has merit in the right circumstances. It just depends upon the draw and what you are up against. Grinders can win games on their lonesome and should be protected as such. For example suppose you are playing a kill point mission. Grinders have a high killing ratio as compared to Plague Bearers and Horrors. I have won my share of games with Soul Grinders as the final wave and it was because I protected them when I needed them. If you are only taking them with tongue then they are more limited in what they can do.

It's a good list. Personally I rate the Bloodthirsters higher than the Heralds/Skulltaker since they are your main threat against (fast) vehicles. Which is also my only worry for this list, there is little to threaten Raiders/Wave Serpents/Vendetta's in this list. Off course thats more or less true for all Daemon Lists. The question is whether you should strive to reduce that weakness. I think you may do fine, but protecting your Thirsters is going to be important.
One way to do this, is to add similar threats. Im not a fan of Soulgrinders (more vulnerable than Princes). So Im going to suggest the following:

Remove 1 squad of Plaguebearers (you have enough, for instance Norbu finished well in a tournament recently using only 3 troops choices. That was pushing it, but 5 is a lot).

This generates 75 points, drop the Soulgrinders for another 320 points. (395 total) Now take two Deamon Princes with Might, Wings and Iron Hide. Thats 190 points for each. The 15 remaining points can be used to buff one of the Plaguebearer squads by one. (A DP with MoTz, Bolt, Gaze for 160 points is also very good if you dont want to drop a Plaguebearersquad).

Just food for thought.

Grinders are also threats to land raiders if they can hit it. Daemon princes just aren't

This works off of a very similar design of a daemon list I have been working with. I think it is very good. Playtest well and good luck.

Thanks extremenm! This list is probably going to have litterally no playtesting prior to the event. I mean I'm well versed with my daemons in general but this list I've never actually tested this list. Maybe if I'm lucky I can get one in later in the week. Thanks though.

This may not work for you, but one thing I have found effective is to run plague bearers and bloodletters together in minumum squads. You can shield the bloodletters with plague bearers to give them a cover save, and increase the chances being able to pull off a charge. Even with just 5 bloodletters, charging you can kill 6 marines, and have a decent chance of flipping over a tank with rear armor 10. If its not something you are use to, then you probably should not change your list, but you might find it helpful as it puts more threats onto the tabletop.
