Hey guyz,
so, i am looking to do a little side project, and so, i thought this would be kinda of a fun idea...
So, basically, i want you people of dakka dakka, to give me suggestions of some space marine chapters that are not done very often, or not at all, i mean like rare! does this make sence?
Some guidelines...
1. HAz to be a rare chapter,
2. it would be nice if you gave a link...
3. no blue xD

And um... ya... that is about it...
(P.S. should this go here? i was not sure where else to put it...)
any questions?

How about the black dragons, a chapter created in the cursed 21st founding, they have blades growing out of their elbows and heads
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Black_Dragons

I think the best rules for them would be BA, with death commany counting as dragonclaws (the guys with blades on arms)

I like the Hawk Lords. They are pretty damn sharp looking!

..and the Golder Gryphons are pretty slick too!

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Not really possible since Legion are elite choices only.

How would you distinguish between the elite and "normal" legionnaires?

Just paint usual SM black and flaming?

Dang, I get so many army ideas I want to do. I just can't afford it all!
But I think it would be nice to watch a Black Dragons army be made, so I second that suggestion.

Probably work

I second Relictors. Fairly unique fluff, you can make a case for playing them as either SM or CSM, and in friendly games, there are cool chapter specific rules you can use.

Man, you've got stacks of chapters to choose from, it just depends on what colour, style of marines you want to do! i'm like you, I could do a diy chapter but love the idea of lesser played marines, I've done some Exorcists (awesome background) and toyed with the white or Brazen minotaurs (easy to paint) and have just started my marines Exemplar army (they just look mean as) some other cool chapters you could look at would be.

*Aurora chapter (more tanks than anyone else)
*Consecrators (use dark angels background, but look cool and inherited lots of ancient wargear)
*Emperors spears (they're light blue and specialise in aquatic warfare and apparently have predators that can ffight underwater!)
*Fire lords (bombard the enemy with explosives then attack throught he flames)
*marines malevolent (think themselves above humans and have an arrogant streak, quite violent)
*Raptors (good primarch, nice history and plenty of scope to do your own thing)
*storm Lords (they just look damn cool)

these are only a couple I know about but i'd love to see waht you finally decide on!

Good luck!

I came up with a chapter based off of different traits from the successor chapters listed in the Dark Angels codex. No picture unfortunatly, however, I had them robed, painted all black with a crimson cloak and white shoulder pads (similiar to the Guardians of the Covenent). I also have a squad of Ad Mech looking Space Marines using the Iron Hands models and substituting the shoulder pads. The background on them was that they were dedicated to reclaiming ancient Imperial artifacts. Their tanks, armour, weapons, etc. were all heresy era and well kept (easy to do with the new forgeworld stuff). The idea behind the Ad Mech in their army was that the Mechs were there to take care of the ancietn technology, as the Space Marines weren't as skilled or knowledgable. The only reason the Ad mech would join a band of Space Marines was for personal gain of thier own lost artifacts. They rarely do large battles, usually resorting to small skirmishes with Pirates over stolen artifacts. They are masters in the art of deception, inflitration, and ambushing. I never got around to creating a chapter symbol for their shoulder pads though, got side tracked with another project.

Hope that helps somewhat

thought of names for them too, but all I could come up with was the Adeptus Requiem, which I can't decide if it sounds extremely goofy or pretty bada$$

Yeah the fire lords sound cool don't they! just have great images of the marines charging through smoke and flame, gouts of steam and cinder falling off their armour as they slaughter the foe in bloody combat while whirlwinds unleash torrents of missiles throught the air to burn the enemy!

By "Knights of Gryoophe" do you mean "Golder Gryphons"? If so, then I vote for them!

Mentors are the ones i'd pick out of the list, but I also second the Exorcists. Mentors for a more "elite" style of play, to mimic the fluff (lots of vets, termies, and vehicles). Exorcists have less of a playable theme, but more modeling possibilities, considering they all have touched chaos.
