Subject: 40k Campaign tough time for Orks.

Battle-tested Knight Castellan Pilot

I am currently in a 4-month long 40k/BFG campaign. I'm the leader for the Ork players, which is only 2 me and a local.
However I've been faced with quite a predicament.
Our current meta is: Space Wolves, Imperial Guard (2), Blood Angels, Salamanders, Imperial Fists, Black Templar. vs Chaos Space Marines (4) vs Orks (2) vs Necrons (2) vs Tau vs Tyranids
Summary so far for me is, I fought against IG and SW, lost, and fled from the planet.
My partner was alone on another planet, so I went to support him. He drew in his match however.
When I arrived, I had to fight Necrons, that match was a draw also. My partner lost against Fists the second time around.
Now the thing is, my partner refuses to play against Necrons, mainly the player for personal reasons. Even if it's 2 vs 1.
So now I'm stuck with, going to help my partner. Or fighting Necrons once more, I've taken some heavy beatings, and I'm risking it all to help a partner who isn't holding his own all to well.
However with some bad blood going around the store, everyone wants to see Necrons get destroyed.
So, I think to myself, do I fight, do I help out, do I do what people want to see. I really just want to stay back, restore some resources and get back into the fray. That isn't all to easy... it's either fight my way through or fight my way back. The thing is, each one leads to some sort of drama related issue. Killing off a player no one wants to see, or helping an unreliable teammate.
What would you do?

I would do whatever seems most fun. If you're playing games purely out of some sense of responsibility, then it's stopped being fun and turned into a job.
|
Bear in mind that I'm a very casual player, and any advice I give will reflect that tendency.

That's what happened. It was supposed to be fun, don't get me wrong it still is, but it's leaning more to a job than fun.

Sounds to me like the necron player is sucking all the fun out of the campaign, my advice is kill him and see if things get better. If your partner can't win a game on his own, then maybe your better off without him. not trying to sound harsh toward your partner or anything but I'd bet that if he feels the same way about the necron guy then he should understand. for the good of the whole campaign take out the cancer that is killing all the fun! you can do it, i believe in you!

i would go for the necron player, but do it in a way that if all else fails you can stay in the game. can you modify your army list, if so make a necron killing list.
or is there any way to get another player to attack necron player, such as an uneasy allience of some sorts?

The way we use meta in wargaming circles is baffling to me. That is so not what the word means.
On topic, do the Ork thing, FIGHT.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes... |

Yes, "Meta" has taken on a different meaning in most miniature wargaming circles...just live and let live. It is kinda like; "A moot point", which even meant the COMPLETE OPPOSITE than the way it is used now. On topic, have you tried talking to the Necron player? I mean, if one guys is ruining the fun for everybody, then boot him. Perhaps he entered the campaign with different expectations than you.

Update.
I had a chance to take him out, but I said I want to see what everyone else does first.
Well he took off the planet, he capped the space port and was able to fly away. Yay me?
However, the Imperial Fist player was there and since we're playing FoC but with some Apocalypse things get crazy.
He had fielded 4 Thunderfire Cannons, 2 Land Raiders, 3 Dreadnoughts, and 4 Rhinos.
Needless to say, even with my KFF and my partner, the fact that the gun ignores cover and is large blast, ruined my night.
We took a hard hit, I don't know what's to happen. We've taken the most damage out of all the armies.

We have no space fleet, we did the whole... you fell out of the sky literally.
Campaign Manager: "So the Orks fall from their Rok into this planet, however they crash landed into the space port of that planet. So they're stuck there too."

wait so does everyone have a space fleet save you? did you start off with a disadvantage like that, or did everyone. can you build a fleet of some sorts. maybe the manager would let you spend x turns to build a fleet and since you are so weak maybe no one will attack you? Automatically Appended Next Post: and how did he have that many heavy support options? are you allowed to change up your list? if so build a listthat goes against common ork tactics or expects tactics like that IF player used so you can outsmart him!

People with Fleets are: Chaos, Imperial Forces, Tau, and Necrons.
Yes we use FoC rules for your initial army, and then with your reserve points you can add extra things i.e Forge World and Apocalypse items.
So yeah, it's possible to bring like 5 Baneblades and be like your turn.
I just want to not have to deal with all the shenanigans right now, I need to relax for a bit before the Orks make a move.
Like a Chaos player said he'd pick me up, but my friend who plays Blood Angels said... "Yes, that'd work fluff wise, and Kelly (Chaos leader) is a nice guy, however he'll probably just support you and then have you fight off people, then sweep in and kill you off and the Imperial players.
So yes, I'm thinking of what to do... I was allowed to Pray to Gork and Mork and teleport to a planet. I need to pray again I guess and GTFO to safety.
On that note, I will add the main guy who's running this has Stompas and so does my partner, retreat, rebuild, and come back with a Waaagh! 3 Stompas, 9 Kans and KFF to boot.
