Subject: O'Shovah Commander Farsight rules question.

I'm thinking of running Farsight in an army list but, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding a section of his rules from the Tau codex.
Under Breakaway Faction the rules state, "Crisis battlesuits count as 1+ units in the same way as fire warriors,
and the following units count as 0-1 in an army led by O'Shovah: Stealth armour, Pathfinder spuads, Hammerheads" and so on.
I don't get what it means by "1+" and "0-1".
If anyone could help me better understand this section of the rules, I would greatly appreciate.
THX in advance.

1+; you need at least one unit, so your army will have to include at least one crisis squad and one fire warrior squad in your army
0-1; you can have a max of each unit, so for example you can only have one hammer head
also don't forget about hat you can't take at all.

eg0u80bf has it correct.
1+ means you must have at least one, and 0-1 means you can have a maximum of 1.

Interestingly enough, Farsight's rules do not state that he counts as your 1+ Fire Caste Commander the way Shadowsun does. GW's Tau FAQ states that he counts as your 1+ Fire Caste Commander, but RAW, you have to take a Battlesuit Commander if you want to take Farsight.

And if you'd pay attention, you'd notice that I said exactly that. You even quoted me saying that and apparently still didn't realize that I said it.
And for the record, I do have all of the FAQs and errata. Printed and bound, with a nice glossy cover. Take'em to every game I play.
Strange that the FAQ says one thing, and the rules say something totally different, eh?
I wonder why that could be?

oops sorry didn't read that bit some how??
also how doesn't a FAQ written by the company carry any weight? sure they do screw up sometimes but the also do that in the rules

Because of the line in the Shrine of KNowledge (you know, the page you clicked through to get to the FAQ..,..) that states
FAQs are studio houserules
Errata are actual rules.

Alright, I don't want Insianiak breathing down my neck here, but the bottom line is that some people are of the opinion that FAQs are an official source, whereas others (and I include myself here) are of the opinion that FAQs are house rules. The reasoning of the latter group stems directly from GW's website, which explicitly states (on the page just before the actual FAQs) that the FAQs are, I quote, "Studio House Rules."
They call them a "soft" source, whereas Errata are "hard," and carry the same weight as the rest of the codex.
Personally I feel that since it's GW making this distinction, the FAQs are in fact house rules.
But like I said, that's not the only school of thought.
Do note, however, that the rules for this forum include GW FAQs as an official source.
So take that for what it's worth.
