There has been a long debate will me and my freinds over what happens when my eldar tanks with holo fields are hit by an ordance weapon or melta weapons at half range.

Perhaps you could phrase that as a question, instead of a statment?

Thanks~!

there is nothing to cancel out, they just roll twice on the damage table if they cause a penetrating / glancing hit, and apply the lowest

but it sounds like you mean energy fields and rolling to penetrate, like on the wave serpent, against melta it is always +1D6 (unless the rear) and ordinance will roll 2 dice and pick the highest still however will be str8 (unless the rear)

tyranids only want to give you a hug, it isn't their fault they are cursed with extremely sharp and pointy claws.

It's important to note that Holo Fields is an upgrade for the Heavy Support tanks, while Energy Fields is an included upgrade for Wave Serpents - but most importantly that they are not the same! Holo Fields do not reduce the strength or impact power of an attack.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Mahtamori has a good point. IIRC you cannot have both a holo field and an energy field on the same model.

You remember correctly.

Wave Serpents are the only tank with the Wave Field, but no option for a Holo-Field.
