I am tempted by starting a Dark Eldar army with the new codex on the way. While I don't want to pin myself down to an army list yet, there do appear to be some bargains on ebay for current models. Which models are likely to remain post codex and/or which ones are cool minis and worth using anyway?

Any thoughts would be welcome. There are certainly plenty of warriors, jet bikes etc about at decent prices.

Check out this thread. I'm sure there are a few pretty good guesses as to what will be redone and what will be kept the same model wise there.

From what I understand most of it will be changing (which is a good thing as many of the old models were pretty horrible IMO - though I have to admit to not keeping up with the news on them as I'm just not really interested so this could be wrong).

Though even if they change them, cheap jet bikes are never a bad thing - especially for a speed based army.

All of them will remain except mandrakes i'd say. So get some mandrakes. Also stock up on wyches, as the Wych cults are going to get even better I think.

The Talos is being redone, if you like the current model now wuold be the time to get one.

The whole miniature range is redone (first pics in a week).
All rules are redone.
The whole background is redone.

This is why I'm sitting tight and waiting for the new miniature line for them to be released. Their current models don't do them justice. Better to save some cash for the new models.

Well since it's a complete rework hard to say but raiders and ravengers will still be needed and look good, just convert a few new plastics to be crew apart from that what ever models you like the look of and ones which won't be in the first wave, check rumour threads for what these suposedly are

tyranids only want to give you a hug, it isn't their fault they are cursed with extremely sharp and pointy claws.

In theory, all the 'current' range should still be valid choices in the new codex, but which ones to get is debateable. Personally, unless you really like the old DE models I would wait for the new ones as you will have more money to spend on them!

Unless you really like the current models for some reason you should probably save your money for when GW finally releases the new stuff soon. If you really want the old models though, it looks to me like all the old stuff is going to be in the new codex.

I would say that now would be a good time to pick up some of your core choices if your economically minded. The current DE warrior box has an astonishing 16 minis. The release is most likely going to cost $5.00 more and based on current trends I would be suprised if it contained more then 6-8 minis.

Current Wyches? 10 minis with multiple options. I would put money on a re-released box set with half the minis for the same price
