Just a heads up to everyone about Neoncon the first weekend of November in Las Vegas.
http://www.neoncon.com for all the info about the convention/tournaments that will be held at the Tropicana Hotel/Casino.
There are special room rates available from the website and if you contact me with a PM I can provide you with a code to save $20 off of your badge (I was given a limited number to give away).
The Fantasy and 40k events will be qualifiers for the Invitational to be held here in Vegas next year, they are also organized by the guys from Smackdown and Slaughter in SoCal.
It's a great time of year to come to Vegas and should be a great convention and tournament. Thanks!
Hit me up with a PM if you want the code to save $20 on your badge.

This looks like a great event. If I weren't going to vegas a few weeks before this for a big race, I would certainly come.
Good luck with it!

I should have the packets up by the end of this week, but expect it to be pretty much identical to the Smackdown.

That's where they get you. I guess if you are sharing the room it's not as bad.

It should be a great time.
Looking forward to the tourney details Phazael, I'm local but I will probably be booking a room for Saturday because of required excessive drinking.

The 40k Packet
The Fantasy Packet
Those who were at the Smackdown should know the drill on this. Those packets should be finalized, barring egregious errors on my part. Any questions, please feel free to PM or email me (phazael.scgwl@gmail.com) and I will respond.

Ewwww....on Solar Flare (Mission 4). All game night fights are bad. Orks and Nidz did well enough in the last tourney. Why are you basically handing them a mission? Just curious.
The rest are the same. Which is cool. You guys do run a great event so good luck. Wish I could make it (even with mission 4, but then again I own Nidz and Orks )

Actually, most of the complaints we got about the last tournament were about shooting armies being too powerful, so this is meant as a minor check on that and to focus the game into midrange firepower. Also, the ork armies that performed strongly did so with Lootas and Battlewagon Rush, so I don't see nightfight really helping the orks all game. Finally, you know I need to do one wierd mission per tournament, so I picked an old 3rd edition mission in its place. Despite all of the whining I like me some whackiness to keep people off balance because....
Blackmoor should be happy, since even though its a 5 objective mission, the 15 ML wolf armies won't blow him off the objectives in two turns! Not sure how nightfight helps Nid armies, since the ones I saw were either Tervispams or shooting based, but I am open to feedback on this.

I know you like you some whacky. But you know I'm in the habit of warning different TO's when I see a scenario that's horribly imbalanced in favor of an army I run because then neither me or my opponent has fun.
A Nid army that uses Trygons, Gargoyles, Swarmlord, and/or lots of stealers will love this mission. Only one turn of shooting at a trygon, yes please. And Tervi-spam means I'm not losing my Tervi this game unless i'm playing someone with spotlights which is great. Daemons will have a field day (granted not many people play daemons). Also nightfight all game only hinders shooty armies without spot lights. So congrats, only Blood Angels, Shooty Nids, Footdar and Loota spam will be hurt. SW's will just use the spot lights on their transports to light units up for those Long Fangs. IG will do the same thing. It's a horrible imbalance as I see it. Hell, I'd even take the gravity flux one over this.
You know I don't mind custom scenarios (they never seem to screw me, just other people at the tourney) but I don't think you thought this one out in how it impacts the "shooty" armies. The two most prevalent will be fine and all the other not so OTT ones will get boned.
Just some quick thoughts on it Phazael. Ya know I love ya. If I was working steady I'd be there that weekend to support yall since the events are always fun and well run.

Wolves have acute senses on top of spot lights all over the place.
Night fight actually makes it harder to shoot back at them.

Night fight always helps out the imperial armies because they have searchlights all over the place, whey armies like Eldar are blind as bats.

Ok guys, we are two weeks out. I am not sure on the numbers, but we will be there and tickets will be awarded along with our usual prize support offerings. Couple things: The old Dark Eldar book will be used for the tournament, to limit confusion, since the book is released that weekend. Second, drinking will be allowed on premesis if you purchase your beverages from the casino.

I would like to know too.
I ended up oversleeping on Day #2. That is why it is bad to have tournaments in Las Vegas. The locals have a huge home field advantage because they are the ones not hung over, and have had a night of sleep. I could have made it for game #5, but I thought that since I was in Vegas on a football Sunday, I felt that my services were better served elsewhere.

This is one of the reasons why Ironman is a one day event so afterward you can go and paint the town and no need to get up early.

A local Vegas guy (and great tournament player) John won Best Overall and I believe George from Cali won Best General. I was told the results with points would be on the organizers club website www.scgwl.com sometime soon. Very well run event, lots of great armies.

George Mason won overall with Blood Angels. John won Best General. There were amazingly no ork players. Top three were actually BA, Death Guard, and Nids, if I recall. Once I have a chance, I will link the PDF of the final scores. People seemed to be enjoying themselves and once all the logistical issues with the venue got sorted, we were happy with how things went. We made some local contacts so that we can get more of a local push next year, as we did not have the means to advertise locally ourselves.
