I agree with everyone's posts so far; Jokorey's on the MarkerDs, and Smarteye's comment on ... switching to *tau* to have a winning army ...
We need an 'smiley' icon of an ork rolling uncontrollably with laughter on the floor.
Still, if you're gonna do tau:

Add a hwDroneControler whenever you include drones, just to cross 't's and dot 'i's. Lose the flamer for an
MP.

targeting array on both 1 burst cannon 1 flamer
As is, they can only fire one gun. Lose all flamers. It brings the suits too close to h2h and they're too valuable as shooters to get caught up in h2h. As Jokorey said, demote them to regular suits, 2 weps and MultiTrackers.

Add Target Array to make all those shots hit and tau vehicles should always have DisPods for the Cover Save.
woodbok wrote:2 broad sides, team leader with targeting array and marker drone. the broadside has a targating array
what does everyone think?
Shield Drones for B-sides every time. Team leader, Bonded, hwDrone Controler. A.s.s. or Target Array are best.
Back to the 'tau' issue. I'm still my best with tau. Reason being? 'Tis a largely unfamiliar army with most players, and therefore, underestimated. I have nearly the most years experience with them, five years (only
SMs are another year with me). If I achieve a good pasting of an opponent who's not familiar with 'em, cries of "Cheese!" and "Broken!" resound.
No, really.
Anyway, more experienced players know their weakness and exploit as best they can; quickly closing in h2h. I've had harder and harder games in 5e. Due to Cover Saves everywhere ( B-sides *not* killing enemy vehicles and FireKnives will cry

) and increased mobility in Codexes and builds. More vehicles, jumpers (BAs) and Deep Striking. <--- This isn't, "Wah! 5e screwed my army!" It's just how the game evolved.
And tau are only 1 of 6 armies I play.
So, woodbok, if you want a winner, this is a steeply curved army to learn. If I were to direct a player to a far more certain, capable army, it'd be Space Wolves. Arguably, the best codex currently used.
