Are foot slogging complex nob units worth taking in a low point(500-750) game, or should you just leave em out unless you have a transport?

Personally, I don't use Nobz until 1850. They're just too many points for me to justify otherwise.

I absolutely could never imagine taking them in <1000pts ever.

Foot slogging nobz are almost never worth taking. Put them in a transport or leave them at home.

I have used 5 nobs with painboy in 500 points game. I can say they are quit tough enough to withstand damage from eldar until they reached them on foot and they are devastating when they get close in melee combat thank to plenty of attacks (each Nob get total 5 attacks with charge and choppa & slugga). But it is very importing that nobs take much cover as possibly to surives the attacks when they go on foot.

The only nobs you should see in a low point army is the ones with the boyz

A pure nob squad is a big target in high points games, so in low point games it will most likely be the only target of note.
They will die first.
And they take away too much of what makes orks so powerful (more wounds than the enemy can dish out).
There are a lot of cheap AP4 weapons out there, so they'll drop fast even with armour.
18points of boyz = 3 wounds. 20points of nobs = 2 wounds.
With average weapon upgrades, 24points of boyz = 3 wounds, 35points of nobs = 2 wounds.

If those Nobz have cybork bodies and aren't diversified, that's 155pts base. Then you need a PK, 2 Big Choppas, a Waaagh Banner, and a Bosspole for a grand total of 210pts. That's almost 1/2-1/3 your army in five models. That's too many points for me and if you equip them differently, they're not worth taking.

A unit of nobs with a Painboy a PK, BC, Waaagh and Cybork is a 150 point unit, that needs to take 4! wounds to lose a model - has 4 Str9 Powerfists, 4 Str7's and 4 Str4 Poisoned attacks, you can ginve that uni9t two flamer template for 10 points... A fast DT for 35................................................... Yeah they are amazing but... boys before toys a'ight

Oh yeah Waaaagh ws5... but you aLRE4ADY KENW THAT

Oh fiiiiine clay, just nine-jar me why don't you

Actual I run 5 naked nobs and a painboy so that it will cost total 150 points. Enough points left to buy 20 boyz with big shootas and nob with power klaw and 5 lootas plus a warboss with power klaw.

Why in god's name would you run naked nobs? For 10 points more you get twice as many wounds, 4 times as many attacks, and Fearless.

Maybe just to psych his opponent out to soak up fire?

Armies | Orks (2000 - Magna-Waaagh!) - | Blood Angels (1500 - Sylvania Company) - | Dark Eldar - (1500 - Kabal of the Golden Sorrow) - | Salamanders (1000 - Vulkan Ravens) - | Chaos (1500 - Wisdom and Wrath) -

The reason why I run naked nobs is because that I have only AOBR nobs until I had bought nob box...

I wouldn't take diversified nobz in a low point game. Any deathstar unit is a gamble, which is why they aren't the bread and butter of every army that can field one. Orks shine in small games not because they can field a nob deathstar, but because they can swamp the opponent with boys.

Sure, diversified nobs are hard to take down when your opponent doesn't have the points for their big guns or sufficient numbers of tooled up shooty. In the same conditions, so are 2 big squads of boys. The difference is that the latter option is scoring, can split fire, and has more bodies, giving it the footprint to conga-line objectives or get off that clutch multi-charge.

I successfully used semi-diversified Nobz in 500pts games. I used the AoBR nobz and declared all chain-type weapons as big choppas and the boyz with distinct armour plating as 'eavy amored nobz, that way you get quite a nice little unit. I put them in a looted Wagon that I stole from my Marines and rushed them with my boss to the frontlines. The worked remarkably well, although at the end of the game they usually are quite depleted..don't run into heavy flamers with them.

Not really a bad idea to take them naked at that low of points. If you do then screen them with some reg boys (one line of them) and I'm sure that people will still shoot at the nobs rather then the boys. Thus giving them a 4+ cover save. I regardless of how cheap they are I would REALLY recommend making two of them have big choppas to hurt and tanks around them.

All of this advice is for 500 points list so don't try to murder me people lol.
