actually the Club does retain AP with shields.

only with IFs or EHWs does it lose AP.

Thats alot of Gnoblars
i assume they will be 10x6 for Horde?

seems pretty solid. decent number of ranks ogre units. 3 scrappies for making Hordes cry

only thing i would change is to try and find points for a Butcher in addition to the SM. that way you can buff more units.

having both a SM and butcher allows for this slick trick. cast all spells with the Butcher first. then cast with the SM. Butcher casts on the 3+ while the SM can more easily cast on the 6+(having 4+ to cast and all)

although 1 SM>2 butchers.

maybe drop LA on the bulls(you hardly ever will get the save) and 1 Irongut(i imagine the Tyrant or Bruiser is with them) to get a cheap butcher.

If you want to cut down on your gnoblar/bull/scrap launcher ratio, can always take a unit of gnoblar trappers, which don't require a bull unit and count towards your gnoblar/scrap launcher requirement. I would change one of the bull units to ironguts if possible with the savings in points. Your guys are so slow that you'll need the Str 6 from the Ironguts in CC.

absolutly do NOT take IGs over Bulls.

against 90% of all infantry the +2 Str from GWs won't net you many more kills.

you can always buff your Str and Bulls are much cheaper then IGs.

your 1 unit of IGs is fine. IGs are now good for taking out High T units.

you are always going last and it's better to have more bodies then better quality of attacks.

Str6 vs Str4 only comes into play against T4 and higher and really only matters againt T5+. Bullgorger is free and makes bulls dead killy.

nice, except Butchers and SMs are best out of your units so they don't get bogged down in CC unable to buff you

i usually have the butchers/SM running behind so they have as many units as possable in their area of effect.

don't worry about mage hunters as most can't take on Ogres with more then a 50% chance of success.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember from other posts that a bruiser cant take the enchanted shield because he's not allowed a mundane shield.

i think you are thinking that Characters can't take Magical armor IF they don't have the option for mundane armor.

Heavy armor is in his options so he can take Magical armor.

the Shield is listed in the Magical armor section.

What he said Grey Templar whats your take on Horded bull units I've been thinking 20 bulls 6 wide 2 xtra models in back row to eat some wounds with or without ironfists

Recent findings though for my ogres
1. Thundermace is TERRIBLE 20% success rate to hit
2. Scraplaunchers AMAZING
3. Ironguts in no way shape or form worth the points(I dont think I will be fielding them anymore)
4. Gorgers once again under preform
5. Extra butcher Hit or miss for me more times miss then more anything
6. Slaughtermaster is a nice sneaky hammer down unit
7. Gnoblars HAVE to stay at BSB range and still out preform most small OK units
8. OK lacks a super totally awesome killy unit of death

20 bulls will kill whatever it hits.

2 bodies to absorb casualities before losing effectivness(add 1 body for each character added to the unit)

6 Impact hits(at Str7), 54 attacks(with no additional equipment), and 6 stomps.

nothing short of an enormous block of phoenix guard or Chaos warriors could take a beating from this and walk away.

i would like to have a few extra bodies to absorb shooting as well as CC attacks so you capitilize on the Horde abilities. 25 Bulls would be ideal, but Hordes, especially Ogres, need support. preferably at least 2 units of 6 ogres(IGs or Bulls) to run flank security. protect the flanks first before you go above 20.

in horde you will want your bulls to be nekkid. no IFs, EHWs, or LA. a Bellower might be wanted for the reform abilities, but, unless you're playing Blood and Glory, leave the banner at home. the bonus from the EHWs or IFs will only be avaliable to the front rank. 20 nekkid bulls is 700 points, 25 is 875. so it is affordable at 2k and up.

on the other hand i advocate your smaller units have IFs. extra attacks or shield option makes them really good.

Spells can be cast unless fleeing or not on the battlefield. Magic missiles cannot be cast while engaged in close combat. That's about it. Augmentation and other spell types don't have this restriction so you should assume it is not a universal restriction, meaning you can cast other spelltypes while engaged. Augmentation spells need not lie in the caster's forward arc. The wizard does not need line of sight to his target.

this is true.

However, if you are slightly out of range then the ability to move and then cast your spells without being stuck in one place is helpful.

I just prefer it that way. if you don't thats quite alright.

Good point I personally run my ogre units close and try and spread a butcher or SM in each one, but close enough so that the BSB in the middle unit can affect the others.

the SMs 12" raange makes him able to cover a wider area.

you probably want them to stick close to each other for this reason.

having 2 ogre casters allows you to cast the same buff twice on the same unit in the same turn. cast first with the Butcher and then, to take advantage of his +4 to cast and the increase in difficulty, with the SM.

quite literally, ogres can't fail to succesfully cast their spells unless they roll 1s, 2s, or snake eyes, and even then its only because a result of 1 or 2 is an automatic fail for all spells.

Grut's sickle is nice for this as you can throw 1 dice at spells with the bearer(who must be in a unit of ogres for this trick to work) and the first time you roll a 1 or 2 that phase you do a wound on your unit and get an extra dice to roll for the spell. this can allow you to conserve your PD and draw out Dispel dice.
