Does anyone have any suggestions for a really good, highly detailed tank battle game? Preferably around 1:72 scale.

I have played some tank on tank battles using The Face of Battle http://www.thefaceofbattle.com/index.html and there was quite a bit of detail there (too much for me, to be honest).

If you can find them, 'Tactical Commander' was pretty detailed for WW2, though still retained some playability.

How complex do you want?

I have some where you have to work out the angle of the impacting shell in relation to the vehicle armour and any angle of that armour... 'Protractors at Dawn' I call them.

Cant say I like playing them to be honest. I prefer something simpler in my old age...

Thanks, I'll check that out.

I can remember Tractics being like that -- even at the time when I was playing that (I was probably about 14 or so) I didn't really think that the huge amount of detail in the game had any bearing on historical reality.

Have you considered Easy Eight's Battleground WW2? I liked the sighting and crew rules a lot. I believe it supports 15mm, 20mm & 28mm in the base rules

It seems especially OTT for a micro-armour game.
