Subject: Discussion about the Gargantuan Squiggoth

Hey all,
I’m thinking of taking the plunge and purchasing a gargantuan squiggoth from forge world. But I’ve got a few questions first.
First off, how is the model to put together? How many pieces does it come in and are the pieces generally cast properly? Is it a greenstuff nightmare (i.e. gaps, etc)?
Also, how do you find it performs in games? I’m thinking it probably wouldn’t be a star player or anything, but has it done ok? I’m thinking something that big would be a huge fire magnet.
Anyway, does anyone on here have experience with it?

The mini comes with a body, tail, head, two tusks. The Howdak on his back comes in 4-6 pieces (trying to remember for sure). The thing is about forgeworld is minis, sometimes the pieces are well cast and go together fairly easily and sometimes they're warped and you have to bend and/or use green stuff to fill gaps. It's kind of a crap shoot in my opinion. I think for mine I had problems with some of the chains on his body being miscast and having to repair those.
I haven't fielded mine much so I'm not going to talk too much about that, but for an upcoming battle I think I'm going to load him up with some lootas and a big mek with KFF. Yeah, he'll be a fire magnet, but those lootas and kannons on top should be able to pump out some serious fire power before he calls it a day.

So if I'm reading this correctly, the body, legs and feet are all one piece then? If so, that will probably make things a fair bit easier.
Yeah, I've dealt with forgeworld stuff before and it is a real crap shoot - I'm sadly well-versed in the warped nature of some FW items.

Just flank march the sucker and he'll be able to face stomp all the shooty guys before they get to hurt him.

Sadly, our gaming club doesn't use flank march in apoc battles (except for formations that get it). Too many instances of people flank marching their entire armies into the enemies' deployment area.

Not allowing Flank March and other assets is a really big pet peeve of mine. All of the assets can be countered quite easily with a little planning ahead of time.
But anyhoo, for the Squiggoth, I'd set him up as close as possible to the enemy army, and then drop a blind barrage on them so they can't shoot him with direct fire weapons. You would still get to fire the big lobbas that it comes with, since they are indirect, and then on turn two you should be able to get a charge off. (Assuming your group uses the APOC rules and starts the two forces 12" apart.)
