Hey guys, I've been in the hobby for around 5 years now, with a ton of models under my belt. Most of those models have been orks and Plague marines. Lately I decided to do a Black Legion army which included Bezerkers. The thing is that I hate the current GW zerkers set. So I decided to do my usual thing and get custom guys (every single plaguemarine of mine is converted)

I've been inspired by some really good zerkers, and that made me want to take my time and make them look as good as I can make them.
This is my first time ever working with red, and the first time I have ever used a white base coat.

I Based it white, and painted the armor panels blood red, I also started painting the details and trim black.








Here I have all the cables, trim, chain, and other bits all painted, without any washes yet.






Finished, washed, ink added, and touched up. (sorry for the different light, I started at noon and finished later that night)






The next members of the squad, I'm planning on a 8 man squad (8 is Khorns number right?)

This guy is just a plastic marine with Zufor's Head and Axe. (Zufor got messed up and broke so I parted him out)

I am notorious for starting a post/ blog and not going any further after a week or so(just look at my titan blog in my sig) But I'm going to try my hardest to get one model done per day, and update it daily also.

Please tell me what you think. C&C wanted and will force me off my ass to update

Well they are looking pretty nice. But I think with few simple things you could make them look much better.

For example that finished berzerker you have done some black lining but why haven't done it to every place? For example there is no lining of whatsoever in the backbag or in symbol of khorne in his head. Lack of linings make it look more like plastic and it doesn't bring up the details.

Next thing you could add is some highlights. Or as your red is already pretty bright you could do some shading. That would give some depth to your models. You could start with undercoat of darker red. And then use the current colour in highlighting. Or then you could add some red wash on the current tone.

And axe isn't in the same level with other miniature. And becouse axe is exactly the same colour as the armour it doesn't look good in my opinion. I think if you would use metallic colour in your axe it would look much better.

But hey don't get me wrong. Your models already look good but with few minor tweaks I think you can make them even better!

I'm digging it, the backpack just needs highlights and the armor could use another baal red wash.

The axe shouldn't be red... it looks like it's made of ceramite

I love the khorne lord model you used.

When i painted mine it was just a case of dark red armour, gold trim, bleached bone head and skull shapped shoulder, silver axe head with red highlight on faces. Then a heavy black wash ^^ And imo i think you need to darken, or at least shade the model slightly, it looks very bright and un-khornish ^^

Oh, and i also washed my axe head with red ink a few times....actualy looks like a deamon ^^

I like the details but I'm not sure if the red is to thin or not. Seems like some of the black is coming through in parts.

Thanks for the comments guys. As for the daily updates I promised, I won't be able to for a day or two, bcause my local games store doesn't have Baal red wash that I want in order finish the bezerkers. Since I took that picture, I have added more black lineing, and highlighting. As for the axe, I'm going to chop it off, and make a double headed chain axe. (I'm gonna order a set of FW axes)

Also, I was shopping online for my paints and I found a new bezerkers model, it's a chaos warrior by Avatars of War. I'm really looking forward to this guy, cuz the model looks amazing.

I finally have an update for you guys. Today after class my order came in of my Avatars of War guy, and my paints. The first thing I did was give my only finished zerker a wash of Baal Red. Then I got around to converting the mini I got, swapping the head, a backpack, and giving him different weapons.





And I started painting my converted Huron model

Since I now have Scab Red, I started with that as the base coat, then did a couple heavy drybrushings of Blood Red, and the details black. More tomorrow since I actually have paints and models to work with.

(Also, today I placed an order for a set of FW chain axes, which I', going to replace my first bezerker's demon-faced axe with)

I did a little more painting this morning, I've finished my converted Huron guy (except some black lining here and there)



And I also did a simple Khorne symbol on his should pad


I also have started on my next guy, simply giving him an armor basecoat of scab red.

I love any and all feedback, even if its "good job", or more likely "you suck" lol

These are pretty good. The first guy could use some more black lining on the helmet though (like I should be talking, my models look like sh!t). But I really like these. Keep up the good work!

THese require some serious shades. They look too bright.

Alternatively, you can undercoat black to give more of a grimdark feel and paint 'up', building each layer brighter in succession.

As for the blacklining of the helm, I received some comments about that earlier and I have since done so. I might put an updated pic of him later.

And as for the brightness of them, I kind of like how bright they are. I think it really will make them pop out. Because they are actually part of my Black Legion army, and I wanted them to really stand out, seperate from the rest.

Looks a tad heavy on the paint otherwise it looks like a good idea.

Little update today, I finished painting my bezerker with the zufor head.
I did this guy instead of my Avatars of War guy, frankly because that guy scares me lol. There is alot of detail on him, but I promise, I will get him done.

This is, funnily enough, making me want to get that World Eaters army I always wanted, with Forgeworld World Eaters conversion kits.

Thanks, I kinda wanted to order some FW bezerkers, but I am only making an 8 man squad, so I would have 6 left over.
But heres a little notice, I ordered FW axes and black legion rhino doors for this squad.

I'll do some updates once I get them.

I bought an assault squad today, andI had some left over bits, so I thought I'd make another guy.

He's the sarg/champion.


I still have a ways to go with painting him, I just did some red and gold.

BTW, I don't currently have a csm codex (my brother has it) and I'm not a 100% on weather Bezerkers can have lighting claws, can they?
I hope so, because I like the model.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I saw lightning claw on the Skull Champion upgrade list when I was working up my theoretical Berzerker army.

He may replace his close combat weapon with one of the following: Power Weapon, or Power Fist.
