Where can I buy assorted cable-looking material for replairs and scratch builds?

Guitar string works well. You can also take thing garden wire or any other wire and wrap your own wire to look like cable.

I go down to Guitar Center by my house and buy a package of guitar string like Tyrius said. It comes with 6 different gauges, and theres enough to last you a long time. I get Earnie Ball Guitar String, 8 packs of it for 9$

i just baught some florist wire, seems ok if not a little thick comes in rolls or cut offs at my local model craft shop, prett cheap as well
