I've changed my existing Eldar army slightly as I think brightlances have limited uses, EML can do more or less the same job.

Here's what I am thinking:

Eldar "The Lost" - 2,000 points

Ok it's not full EML spam but it's got a lot! I guess I could ditch the scatter lasers and got EML on both Dragon Serpents, this would take me over by 2 points - I don't think would bitch about 2 points, but then again...

Plan is Farseers go with Avenger units, they doom a target which I find most annoying and take it would while guide helps units to make sure something is torrented to death.

Dragons go for the tough armour, bail out nuke stuff and get back in next turn, if they survive. The Dragons are a cheap unit costing 80 points so if they don't they they don't. The point of the scatter laser Serpents is if Dragons pop transports then the Serpents can start blasting the survivors, either way good for anti infantry and tank popping.

Avengers start claiming objectives and laying down heavy rates of fire power while the Guardians can be used for home objectives or kept hidden and turbo boost last turn and go for objectives.

Fire Prisms provide long range anti tank and anti troop.

Tactics with this list is to zoom the Dragons ahead first turn, either turbo boost or move 12" to fire one weapon - if I take EML can still threaten vehicles. The rest of the list will stay static as got 48" range and can blast armour from a distance. Once armoured targets are destroyed or thinned out then the rest of my forces will advance while the Fire Prisms lay down long range support, the Dragons by this time would have locked onto tougher or long range targets which are a pain to get to and nuke them.

EML Spam is good. Nothing wrong with the list or weapon configs.

The only thing to note is that if you place alot of AT on your FD Serpent, they become an easier target to select for your opponent. Rather make him think about what he is about to do. Not just go "that serpent contains alot of AT", kill it now.

Don't put your AT eggs in one basket. Keep the FD killing tanks, but leave their WS killing normal units. Leave the DA's to kill units and allow their WS to "possibly" kill tanks.

Eml spam?
Sorry, Mercer, but I count only 4 eml's.

FDs usually have to go close and personal.
Therefore, I'd give their Serpents shuricannons.

I did put scatter lasers on the Fire Dragon Serpents TBH. But I thought what the hell go EML on all of them, which can do anti troop too. Your point is right about the Dragons, just I have three units so all fire power will need to go into those three units and Serpent can be pretty tough.

Ok, sprinkle of spam? It's the most I can get in my list without changing it radically.

I had scatter lasers previously. Might jump pack to them.

Thanks.

of course if you really wanted to *spam* emls, you would swap the Avenger squads for Defenders with emls,

Then swap the fire prisms and put in as many warwalkers (I think about 5) with 2 emls in there as well.

That would count as spam

Denfenders? Do you mean Guardians?

True it would, however, I'm using my existing army and swapping weapon load outs so no Warwalkers I'm afriad. HOwever, what you said would be true EML spam.

I think I'm gonna go EML on troop Serpents and on one Dragon Serpent and then scatter lasers on the other two Dragon Serpents, maybe scatters on them all and squeeze in runes of warding.

Aye that mate, though walkers are pretty fragile.

Don't really need to do that. Just switch scatters to EML and I'll be 2 points over, 2 points isn't breaking the bank.

True EML spam would be something with 9 EML Walkers, all EML serpents, and possibly guardians with EMLs.

Like I said, like spam and I'm using units which I have instead of shelling out for more

However, how do you find EML to brightlance? I'm going to give them a try tonight.

Brightlance has it's uses, jsut they are limited and I apologize on that list I posted I did have a BL on one of the 5 man DAs. The EML is vastly superior for run and gun tactics were you are drifting at 48" range popping shots at enemy transports and the only time BL pulls ahead is when you have a heavy target like a land raider, but we have fire prism link and dragons for targets like that. I keep one BL for instances of wanting to get a possible hard target kill at the beginning of the game from range, thus freeing up a dragon unit.

I tried this last night, lost, but that's ok. List hasn't changed much and usually wins, just EML changes. I'm going to take all transports with EML becasue the Dragons are still targets regardless and the extra anti tank would be great.

This list seems to easy to crush. Altough you have 15 different fire dragons, they have to get out of their transport to do anything. They'll be easily crushed by a round of dedicated shooting. But TBH I've never seen a list like this before, so I don't know how it will hold up. If you moved alll the transports up 1st turn then disembarked them every one the second turn, you'll either massacre them or they'll massacre you.
But yeah this is defnity not an EML Spam. You do have above a normal amount of it, but it's hardly spam.

Dude, Fire Dragons ALWAYS have to get out, like any other Eldar unit. Do you actually play Eldar? How can yo usay it will be "crushed" if you've never seen anything like it, when in fact this is a common mech Eldar list?

Not going to disembark troops when the coast isn't clear am I?

I'm afraid you are missing the point a bit here - yes, fire dragons do have to get out to fire, yes they may very well die next turn - but they're an 80 point unit that's easily capable of destroying any tank in the game. So it's worth it, essentially. And your opponent has to put a fair amount of firepower into taking out the fire dragons, because if even 1 or 2 are left they can be dangerous.

Eldar to depend a bit on that second turn of disembark+shoot. But EMLs and fire prisms are a way to avoid this - they stand back and snipe away at range, whiel fire dragons zoom in and kamikaze the biggest offensive threats the enemy has.

Mercer, my new idea for a list (I've just bought a load more tanks) also has EMLs over BLs, I think they're a much better value. Bright lances are only better against AV13-14 after all, and not many armies can field more of those target than I (and you) have fire dragons. One suggestion I have is to drop the shuriken cannon on the FD serpents for spirit stones. I'm not usually a fan of that upgrade, but a second main weapon on the FD serpents will probably never get to fire as the transport will be moving 12" - so take the extra chance the dragons will reach their target instead.
