I love my orkz, but for fantasy I wanted to try something new. Any opinions on Lizardmen? And if not, what would you suggest and why? Tanks!

Maybe you should try not posting this in the 40k section of the forum for starters.

They suffer from issues with points costing and unit sizes, namely that they have neither.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

Someone has some serious bro-mance. My first post landed in the wrong section, newbie mistake. Let's all lay an egg over it. And all those big boy words really make you sound tough, hehe.

Posting in the wrong section is a newbie mistake. Calling someone a tool for actually helping you makes you a... wait for it... wait for it... douche.

Lots of love in this thread

I see what you did there.

Anyway they're pretty slow in combat and are expensive so generally they're a bit smaller than normal armies. The Slann is one of the best magic users in the game. The coldblooded rule is also pretty good at time as it makes it pretty easy to pass leadership tests when you need to. Hopefully some Lizardmen players will come along to give more insight on them rather than squabble on the internet for superiority

It's one thing to "help", and that kind of help of "posting in the wrong section brah" is not helping the OP at all especially shortly after he realizes it. The bromance is strong in this e-thug.

If it makes anyone feel better I did contact an admin and report my own post. Hopefully it will be moved or RE-moved and we can forget this messy business. Thank you to those willing to look past my error and give me a few tips. I think that the magic aspect is what attracted me to them since you dont really have much in 40k, especially Weird Boyz, psyker randomness!

Back on topic guys

Slaan give you easily the best mages in the game, ouside of special characters.
Saurus.... they suck more and more the more games I use them in. With hand weapon and shields they are bearable thanks to parry save, but the spears have been woeful. Too slow (I1) and WS3 sucks for what is essentially elite infantry.
Stegs are great
Kroxigor are overpriced and should be St7 with great weapons
Salamanders are absolutely awesome, close to best unit in the game, definitely the army. Skirmishers, march and fire, hit everyone under the template.
Skink cohorts (no kroxigor) in 2 ranks of 10 are awesome.... fantastic flank units thanks to javelin rules and quick fire, and parry.
I need more chameleon skinks. I run a unit of 6 and it needs to be 10.
Poison on skink blowpipes rocks vs monsters and warmachines.

Yeah the stegadons and cold ones are what really attracted me too. I run Speed Freakz so I was thinking of marching down the field on dinos. Should be interesting. I'll pick up the codex today and see if they're for me.

I'm going to be picking up the LM army book (not codex ) again probably next week, too! I owned them briefly and was disenchanted, but I've become interested again.

If you love magic you'll LOVE lizardmen. A slann is absolutely messed up in this edition.

However, if you do take a slann likely your army would be best suited to doing magic damage before hitting combat, so any fast / hard-hitting units (like cold one riders or stegadons) will probably need to hold up for a counter-charge type role, rather than going off on their own.

People will ding cold one riders, but they have a valuable role to play in a LM army, and take stupidity on 3D6 I believe? Unforunately the models are rather dull, the DE cold ones are so much better!

Also note if you search for lists that 7th edition tactics don't really apply as much anymore. You need larger units in 8th edition. Especially if you use the Dakka search function since it displays the old results on top and the new ones on the bottom

Hope that helped a bit! Post up a list when you get the book and download the trial version of Army Builder if you want to get a taste of things first.

Im trying to decide between a Slaan and Mazdamundi. I know I wanna run two toads as my lords. Also wanna run some stegadons, salamanders, and teradon riders.

Mazdamundi is too pretty of a cannon target. Take a regular slann.

Dont take mazdamundi, especially if you dont have good pinning or magnetizing skills, theres no model for him so hes hard to make and game wise he will get peppered with everything first turn. Saurus are good, but slow, their lizards cant blame them for following their smaller versions when it comes to biology. Stegadons are great and skinks are a must, big blocks of them allow for lots of poisoned javelin shots, which equal more 6's when trying to hit.

Better to let them think you a fool, then open your mouth and proof them right.

Good tips, real good tips! I love the magic items options in fantasy! Makes Wargear all the more personal! I was considering in a 3000 point army running with a pair of Slann well protected by their guard and simply using 4-5 skink priests on cold ones as beacons where they cast from. Would be expensive, but magic is y goal, here. Any ideas?

Oh and take a statuette of spite, that thing makes T3 or less wizzards cry (kills Teclis easily ), not bad for 25 pts, even if it fails against tougher stuff.

Slann+temple guard held up an ogre horde in the front, chaos knights + lord on juggy on flank, chaos warriors in rear and a exalted hero on other flank. Yeah, Slann with lore of life is slowed.
