Just finished Titanicus by Dan Abnett, totally loved it and was again amazed at just how good a writer Mr Abnett is.

I personally thought it was right up there with the Eisenhorn trilogy and some of the best Ghost's novels.

It also really got me thinking about the Skitaari and wondered if someone could shed a bit more light on them,
I have searched a little online without discovering much.

Were they once human? Any good artwork out there? Any models?

Yes they are humans that have been augmented, there are even skitarii like imperial guard with a few extra augments thrown in.
