Stalwart Space Marine

Hey y'all, so I'm saving up some dough to get a new army. I haven't made the cash yet (so I haven't bought anything) but I came up with an all-drop marine list. I know these aren't usually the most effective of space marine lists, but lemme know whatcha think anyway.

Kantor -- 175
Master of the Forge - Combi-Melta, Thunder Hammer -- 140

10 Sternguard -- 10 Combi-Melta, Pod -- 335

Tactical Squad - Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Multi-Melta, Pod -- 220
Tactical Squad - Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Multi-Melta, Pod -- 220

Ironclad Dread - 2 HK Missiles, Pod -- 190
Ironclad Dread - 2 HK Missiles, Pod -- 190
Ironclad Dread - 2 HK Missiles, Pod -- 190
Ironclad Dread - 2 HK Missiles, Pod -- 190

1850 Points.

I drop 4 pods first turn, so I can plunk down all 4 ironclads if I want.

That might hurt a little

I may have used the HK missile points, to give the Tac sergeants power fists.....or if you had enough points, (by dropping a Sternguard or two?) add a couple of HF/MM Land Speeders....

it is a strong list, but what if youre enemy is playing nids or orks? what are you going to do? shoot all melta guns opon them? this is a anti-tank list, and not competive.
you have not enough firepower against horde army's.
think about that...

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32
2012 losses: 8, draws: 0 wins: 15

Do you need 10 combi-meltas in the SG squad? I'd say 6 is enough that way you can combat squad and take down 2 tanks. 3 meltas is enough 5 is overkill. By swapping those 4 extra meltas top combi-flamers you now help with your serious lack of antihorde fire power.

Likewise the Ironclads could do with heavy flamers.

However I don't really like the idea of taking Pedro and 1 sternguard squad. Seems pointless. If you're taking him you need a bare minimum of 15 SG preferably 20 or more to make it worht while.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

I'm not sure why you'd run anything but Vulkan with this list...

On the Iron clads your better off upgradeing the weapons to a flamer and a melta instead of the two hunter killer missles, it also works out 5 points cheaper.

Multi-meltas are a hard weapon to use effectivly, I would consider instead either a plasma cannon or a missle launcher to give yourself so additional templates.

Thunder Hammer on the Master of the Forge is kind of pointless in my opinion. The model has a servo harness so he already gets two Str 8 In 1, power weapon attacks.

I like the list basically, the only thing that bothers me is your lack of templates. Your going to have a hard time dealing with hordes. The Ironclads can chew through most anything, but will they be able to do it in six turns.
