Hi plp!

I recently started playing Warhammer fantasy and with the new blood island stuff i went for skaven.

The army is themed around the Roman empire with the clanrats as my legions and the slaves...well are slaves

Im still thinking of names for my warlord, warp-lock and chieftain. Something like Caesar or Maximus for the warlord, well Caesar was stabbed to death by his own which seems very skaven like from what i have read so far.

Any ideas as for names, and unit conversions for my models would be great

Thinking of making the warlocks look like Roman senators in white togas, and Black and Dark purple storm vermin as my Praetorian guards

You don't have to make it more Skavenlike.

Make them a well ordered and clean Skaven army, then try to take over the world.

Remember that your Grey Seer has to be white with an enormous cranium. The Warlord must be tall, white, and not too bright.

I dont have a grey seer at the moment, but i have painted my warlord. He is the one from the Blood island set.I have given him white fur gold chest plate and helmet, boltgun metal the rest of the armour, and red for the cloth. i also got rid of the trophy thing on his back and gave him a marauder cloak. Best of all i got rid of the meat cleaver and made a gladius sword. I will put picture up soon.

One of my clanrat groups of 30 i have pick all the largest armored skaven from the clanrat box sets. Im in the middle of painting them. red cloth and bolt-gun Armour. They will be the 13th legion who will carry my battle standard.

Anything with pompous, maybe pompus for plague priest or something.

Don't have a plague priest yet, but will probably be getting the one from the plague furnaces. Good name. I have put some pictures up in my Gallery of the army so far. Not the best quality, but im not to good with the camera lol.

Like the gladius. Where did that come from?

Not sure how the engineer's gun fits in with the Roman theme but don't really care!
looks cool.

Maybe the only thing would be to add washes, but somehow for the General's silver armour it kinda feels right as is.
The mouth could do with a touch more definition to distinguish it from the helm mask. But again phff who cares?!
Really likin the idea and look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the roman name chooser! I think i am going to call my Chieftain who has the battle standard for the 13th legion Lucius Verminous. I anyone has seen the Rome the tv series they will know why.

Glad you like the pics! The armour may look abit silver cause of the camera flash. I am no good at taking pictures of miniatures. I made the Gladius from a chaos warriors sword for the blade, the hilt was the top from the marauder musicians drum stick, and the half circle bit under the blade was from the joint of the chaos warriors arm that held the sword i nicked the blade from.

know what you mean. I use angle poise and spot lamps til I can get something better and turn the flash off when using the macro.

Also for names the good old online translater could be fun

Kidding, although I actually did, albeit not going so far in the modelling department, more doing colour co-ordination based on unit role, and using Roman military tactics in WHFB, well, as much as you can with skaven anyway.

Ha Ha Ha!!! We can be waring Roman Rat faction Rabid Juli, and Plague Pompey lol. My army realy only stated out roman by colour scheme as well. It was only when i thought more about how Romans and Skaven were alike that i decided to do the modeling side as well.

Just FYI on the paint jobs, if your really planning on going more Roman, I'd recommend looking up roman uniforms, for example the diagram at the top of this link:
