Ok so here's my question, in the beastmen army book for ungors they say that "one unit of ungors in your army may include ungrol four horn instead of a halfhorn"

I just want to ask a cost based question, regarding this would you charge for 20 ungors then upgrade one to ungrol, or upgrade one to a halfhorn then to ungrol of would you add ungrol on to the twenty giving 21 total models in the unit?

Yeah, your first assumption is right blak43. Basically, you will pay for the unit of ungrols, then instead of buying the champion (which in this case is the halfhorn) you buy ungrol for the points cost specified, so you will have 19 ungors and ungrol fourhorn if that clears things up

Thanks, Jakeface

Not to tease but you need to edit for spelling again, I can't have a unit of all ungrols, too expensive

And thanks for the clearup, very helpfull.

On a side note that doesn't quite fit on this section but expands on this idea, do you think it's worth the extra point per model to add spears or am I better off leaving my ungors with hand weapon and shield for parry save?

Depends what role you need them to fill.

If you think their Init is high enough that they will be getting attacks in most often, then spears can be worth it. If you want them on the defensive, mainly there to provide static res, then go parry.

What about if I want to make them into a horde in time? still just a question of what role and init/survivability or is there a more clearcut answer that way?

Horde = Spears. Sheer number of bodies ensures combat resilience, whilst also able to give a good kicking in HTH.

Look into your spell lores, and how you might buff them up.

Spears it is, and from looking through the spell lores available to the beasties it looks like there are a few ways to buff up their strength and toughness to help bust some heads and keep their own in one piece.
