If I use Space Marines with Inqusisitor Allies, if I attach an Inquisitor to a squad of marines, is he able to enter play via drop pod

Is he an IC?
Without retinue?
Can he fit into the pod with them?
If the answer to these three questions is 'yes' then you may attach him to any other unit in reserve during the deployment phase of the game (where you decide what is starting on table and what isn't).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

The only way you could do this is taking him without a retinue, so an elites choice inquisitor... with no retinue.
Making him useless, except as a key to unlock assassins.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes... |

Can't even do that.

Yup, not with only one Elites slot for allies.
So basically, OP, there is no way to do what you are trying to do unless you want to use your Elites slot for allies for a single Inquisitor with no retinue - not something anyone would recommend.

It'd be an interesting way to get a broken psychic hood. I can't think of any other reason for it though, and since range not mattering is the whole point of those, it would be better to keep such a character in a corner somewhere.

Broken Hood, 4+ save against spells (After the hood fails), Incinerator for cheap, Word of the Emperor (to protect the squad from being assaulted).
It is doable, and has its advantages, but you are better off attaching a Brother Captain or a GKGM if you have the points(and the HQ slot), as they provide more bonuses and are more beneficial then the inquisitor.

Better then nothing, besides, you could always just give him a Null Rod and not worry about spells what-so-ever...

I think the "broken" refers to the unlimited range, which is nice.
Still, if I wanted an inquisitor just for the 'hood I'd take a WH Lord. He'd also have the Hammer of the Witches power, 2 medics and a familiar as retinue. Sit in a corner, try to hurt enemy psykers every round and nullify every power cast.

Yeah, I was speaking using "broken" referring to outdated rules, as opposed to "overpowered". If I thought a LD 8 hood drop podding in was broken, I'd have suggested the LD 10 24" hood on the librarian that I'd drop pod in instead, but this is not a discussion to be had in a rules thread.
