Welcome my fellow Dakka....um....Peoples!!!

This idea stemed from the combination of two things. Firstly, the fates aligned and I am able to purchase my first home complete with a dedicated gaming room. Closing is set for next Wednesday (10-6). Secondly, my wife loves to watch HGTV, and they have this thing called a Blog-Cabin. Basically, the entire fan network votes on different things that go into the house and its construction. So I have combined those two ideas to bring the Blog gaming room! I would like you, my fellow dakka surfers, to help me design my gaming room!

Some thing can't change (room dimisions, flooring, lighting fixtures, etc.) and my budget is not limitless. Infact, it's almost nill. I will try to stick with what is the most popular choices throughout the process to the best of my ability. There are some things that I do want in the room.

1. Wall mural (already have design idea.)
2. Modeling/Painting desk
3. Gaming table (duh.)
4. Light box area
5. Ample shelving for miniature storage.

Step 1, Room design.

The room is about 11X13 with a closet. The design is about like this (not to scale):



I'm not 100% on the diminsions, I don't quite live there yet.

Current Plan:

The first thing that is already done is the wall color (we already had the paint and it is not a limitless budget.) The color is Ancient Pewter from Behr Paints. On top of this, I would like to mural on one wall the imperial aquila in ultra pure white. On another wall, I would like to do the little race emblems found on the boxes. I do need some good quality pics of those little emblems though, and for that matter, the aquila. I plan on making transparencies of the emblems and putting them on over-head projectors to trace on the wall.

I have a custom built 8'x4' gaming table, but it is not the best quality, so I plan on buiding another one. This is the first area that I am open to designs. Hit me with some ideas on custom gaming tables. I will be building this from scratch myself, so let the imaginations run wild.

I also already have a desk to use for modeling/painting. It's one of these:



It is only a template to work from and can be changed easily. Any ideas here are helpful too.

Lastly, you will notice throughout this process I will not be using polls in the conventional since. I will get ideas, then give a multiple choice written poll, then ask you for your choices through posts. After a certain time, I will announce the winning option. My wife will be helping me throughout the process and her descision combined with mine will be the final one (it is my house after all.)

Hit me with your best ideas/wishlists/anything else. Near the completion of the room, I will also need an emblem to dedicate the room to you, the people of dakkadakka. Thanks for your time and let the brain storm begin!

Okay, I'm in need of some good quality examples of the box race icons. Like this one, but for Marines, Tau, Nids, and Guard.
