I wanted to make sure that I understood this. (sorry, I don't have the big red book handy)
Recently I played my Ork army vs. an eldar army.
His wave serpent moved about 8 inches... I assaulted his serpent with my diversified Nob squad.
So I rolled to hit the serpent with my non-power klawed nobs (needing 6's to hit) and I ended up immobilizing it. He then proceeded to tell me that my power-klawed nobs automatically hit the serpent since I immobilized it in the "prior initative step". I thought that I still needed 6's to hit the serpent...
What he right?

Yes, he was right. It is covered in the rules for vehicles and assaults in the rulebook if you want to look, because it says "Is immobilised", which means that no matter how far it moved, if it is immobilised, you auto hit (as well as needing a 6, but it's a moot point ) And I have to say, keep that friend at all costs. An Honest friend is a rare thing indeed.

Pick up the AOBR rulebook. It has all the rules, the Page numbers are the same and its A5 instead of Clunky A4.
All it is missing is the Fluff bits.

Perfect! Thanks again. Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay... I just ordered the mini-rulebook from ebay (thanks GWAR!) and it can't come fast enough...
I have one more question along the same vein as my topic...
Supposed that the wave serpent has passengers and my non-power klaw Nobs actually wrecked the vehicle, therefore the passengers do the emergency disembarkment... does the power klaw nobs get to assault the passengers in that same assalt phase? Or are they left scratching their balls while they get shot at next turn... since the vehicle and passengers are separate units???
Thanks. Automatically Appended Next Post: ***that was weird, didn't mean to edit an old post so I'm replying again so that ya'll can see I updated it (is that okay for me to do that?***

I think no since the vehicle and passengers are separate units and that when the passenger disembark, they can't be within 1" of my nobs (we wouldn't be base to base contact)??
Thanks.

You cannot assault the passengers, as you would have to declare a new assault which you cannot do as you are already resolving combat.
If you had shott he serpent down you could have assaulted them with the unit that shot that down (and any unit that had not yet shot the transport) but you cannot crack it open in assault and then assault the passengers inside.
Note it is only an emergency disembark if you covered the rear hatch!

If the unit is able to disembark (remember, they have to disembark BEFORE you consolidate, and they cannot be within 1" of you or 2" from the hull of the vehicle or they((individual models)) are destroyed via wrecked rules) then no, you cannot "Wrap in" with them during the assault phase as the unit you were assaulting is dead. They also do not need a moral check (neither would you if you lost some boys due to the explosion) for potentially losing >25% of their unit size in a single phase, as the assault phase is safe from this type of check. You also cannot use your consolidate move to be within 1" of his disembarked unit, and moving through the wreck would cause you to take a dangerous terrain test.
I think that should just about cover it all!
But yeah, your friend is a hero!

You are only safe from panic checks if you are locked in combat.
If you are not locked in combat, and you are not if you were fighting non-WS vehicle, then you take panic checks as normal for losing 25%. There is no blanket "assault phase" excepton to the panic check rules, its just that it is difficult to meet the conditions in the assault phase....

I thought the 25% rule explicitly said that the casualties had to be from shooting.
Oh, and whembly, the forum automatically makes it so that if you have 2 posts in a row, it combines them into a single post. No need to be alarmed.

Nope, it's under the rules for morale checks, not shooting, and specifically states it doesn't apply in CC.
Page 44:
"A unit losing 25% or more of its models during a
single phase must pass a Morale check at the end
of that phase, or else it will fall back. Do not count
casualties caused by close combat attacks, as they
are covered later in C) Losing an Assault.
A unit that is locked in close combat does not have
to take Morale checks for taking 25% casualties."
So anytime you lose 25% of the unit, as long as they're not locked in CC, you take a Morale check at the end of that phase.

This can happen even in the movement phase, so be careful with those small units! I once had a unit of 4 Thunderwolf Cavalry move through a wreck so they could assault some of my Nobz, one was wounded and the wounded one just so happened to roll a 1 for the Dangerous Check. They then failed their morale check and ran away 18", to then be Tank Shocked by a Trukk and fall back 14", to be Tank Shocked by a Wagon to fall back another 17". Moral of the Story is be careful of them dern assploded Rhinos! And yes, don't be alarmed. Dakka autoappends Double posts made within 48 hours of each other (I think, it might also be 24).

I've actually Deff Rolla'd entire units of Gaunts off the board (out of synapse) in the Movement Phase alone. I love Orks.
