My brother is wanting to get into warhammer 40k. He decided he wanted tyranids but I'm finding it difficult to find a good 2k points list.
Please Help

Well, what kind of help are you looking for? We need a little bit to work with.

What models do you have? What are you willing to buy?

Or:

What type or army do you want? Monstrous Creatures? Swarm? Shooty? Assaulty? Ambush/Deep Strike/Outflank/Jump Infantry?

Started wargaming with heroscape. Who says kids can't be generals?

Tournament Results:
Space Marines 2-1-0

In Soviet Russia.... you go to Gulag.

Well that's a pretty broad range of options. I'll say first that Big 'Uns appear to be one of the better ways for Tyranids to be competitive. That said, you need to really consider some basic list ideas.

Antitank?
- Hive Guard, Zoanthropes, Tyrannofex

Big Melee Units?
-Trygon, Hive Tyrant, Carnifex

Troops?
-Tervigon, Termagants, Genestealers, Hormagaunts

Specialty Units?
-Doom of Malan'tai, Deathleaper, Ymmgarl Genestealers

Fast Units?
-Gargoyles, Genestealers, Shrikes, Harpy, Raveners

HQ?
-Hive Tyrant, Winged Hive Tyrant, Warrior Prime

I would pick some sort of imaginary goal (fast, big, shooty, etc.) and somehow get a look at a Tyranid codex through whatever means you feel necessary, and put a rough list together. Once you have SOMETHING for Dakka to peruse, you'll get some useful advice.

Hulksmash is one of the top rated 40k generals in the US, and he has started a tactica on Tyranids. I'd advise you to give it a look.

don't forget to get the minis that look cool as well! The trygon is a work of art and fantastic to paint. That said, the trygon is the only tyranid I have got round to painting even though I have a massive 50 genestealers waiting in the painting queue!
