Hi dakka!

During our latest APOC game, I was allied with 2000 points of BA, and 2000 points of IF. Because of the vow I have available in my army (the preferred enemy vow of all smiteyness), we weren't sure how this would effect my allies.

We came to the decision that we would allow it, so long as I paid the cost of the EC (with vow) for each detachment (but with only one EC in our combined army).

So I got one EC for the cost of 420 points, which gave our 6000 preferred enemy. Was this a fair way of working it? Is there a better solution?

Only the Black Templars pray before the battle. Only they get the vow.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

No, only Black Templars are affected by the Vow.

Sorry, I was being light hearted.

It is Apoc after all. D:

But in any case, no, the Codex Spess Mahrine guyes don't benefit from the Codex Black Templars rules.

Fair enough, im having a bad day sorry lol.

Theoretical question this time.

Say there were 3 BT allied players on one side. Would each detatchment get one EC and therefore one vow? If each EC took a different vow, would ALL BT benefit from them?

irrelevant spam removed
I would say it would be a little bit unfair to allow overlapping vows. So either 3 ECs and lots of confusion over what vow goes where, or just 1 EC and 1 vow for all the BT. -shrug-

I'd say yes, as it says Black Templars units, not your army.

The defaul in Apoc is that special rules of your army dont affect your allies.

A good rule of thumb, in my opinion, is to judge how awesome an ability is. And, if it would give a major advantage to your allies, don't allow it. If it's something minor and kinda fun, go ahead.

I'd count vows as being a major advantage and not allowed. If you really want them to overlap, find something equal in your opponents army you can extend to their entire force.

I would say no, since each diffrent attachment would pray seperately before hand.

At least that is how I would argue it if someone pulled such a thing on me.

I'm a Black Templar player, and I wouldn't allow it.

I would treat each ally as a separate FOC (in normal games or APOC). I know that there aren't any FOCs in APOC, but that's how I'd handle it.

There are multiple EC's across the chapter as a whole, although each Crusade generally only has one.

For gameplay purposes, I'd give each BT player his EC, and each detachment gets its own vow. However, if you want to play that the three players are a single crusade, I'd take 1 EC and give the entire force a single vow.

I think you should have to have three EC, as they bestow their benefits upon their troops; the others pray seperately.
