There is a gamer at my local GW who plays DE which contains 10 fast skimmers 7 Raiders and 3 ravgers all tooled up with dark lances, disinigrators and night shields. So usally if he hasn't come in from reserve and shot you with all his dark lances (about 30) and lots of disintigrators (9) then you are usaully out of range due to the night shields or carnt get past his cover saves.

Now i am a space marine player and i want to put this list to the all knowing dakka dakka users before i play him an get your opinion.

your list is too small. You haven't got enough models on the table. that's around the same amount of models my buddy would place on the table at around 800 points. Get more models. Your list is weak because of the small amount of units.

What strikes me about your list is that you have 6 Dreads. That seems a lot to me. They seem to be tying up a lot of points (whether Venerable or not)

Checkout the rumours from the new Codex and you may be in even more trouble with your list.

Yes, do this. Venerables are over-costed. Use the leftover points to beef up the troops.

At least unitl the new DE codex comes out - the best way for marines to beat DE is:

speeders! - 9 of them - the speeders negate the speed advatange of the DE and all that armor is difficult for the DE to take out - even with a bunch of Dark lances.

scouts! - sniper rifles and a missle launcher can take out raiders and ravagers.

Also, if your opponent is fielding 30 dark lances it seems like you are missing a load of poitnsin your list.

actually the DE can fit an ungodly amount of DLs in their lists for dirt cheap.



You appear to be going for shooty. it's a good start, but you need a firm foundation and that is formed from Tactical squads.

at LEAST 2 full str Tac squads. one with a Flamer, and Combi-flamer. the other with Meltagun and Combi-melta. both with Lascannons.

at 1500 you can get 2 Rifleman dreds in and that should be fine against DE. remember to stay in cover, AV12 with a 4+ is very tough to destroy. leave Venerable off too. you need bodies before survivability.


Typhoon Speeders will rip the DE raiders apart.


Remember that bolters can kill raiders. Yes they can. Glance on 6s, they are open topped so its only -1 to the roll.

what you are facing is a raider rush army.

Its strength lies in fighting armies that are small in number and expensive in cost, since most of its power is coming from the vast number of darklances.

In order to beat an army such as this you must build an army that is similar, small in cost and large in unit quantity. Focus on units with mobility and good range. The greastest marine weapon against dark eldar is also the missile launcher.

This is similar to a list one of the DE players at my local place uses, the local trick to beating him is taking down the raiders with missles, then bolting the troops, with a final mop up of assault squads going at the survivors.

Do this, just change the LC into ML if points require, try to squize in some rinho's too. Mobility isn't an issue, couse even with nightshields up you outrange him (42 vs 36") and auto cannons rape av10/11.
