Hey,
Anyone know what "cartoon" style painting is? I've heard this referred to but I don't know what it is.
Thanks!

Hard to explain it without simply saying 'cartoony'.
It's sort of less realistic, with more vivid colours and more highlights. I do the skin of my orks quite cartoony.

Yeah, like that. Deep shadows and vibrant highlights.

Painting can be done in any style of cartoon.
You can go for the disney style balck outlines and flat colour, or the hentai sype dark shadows... what style are you trying to emulate...

I paint my regular boyz in that style. It takes too damn long to paint them the way I paint nobs and bigger. Its pretty easy, and looks pretty good when finished. Sorry no pics, too lazy Ok not that lazy. 2 things wrong with this picture though. #1 my son proved how easy it is to kill an Ork boy. But hes proving the resolve of an Ork boy by fighting on with 1 arm lol #2 I need to repaint my boyz (god help me) because they look terrible next to my nobz lol Anywho, theres an idea anyways of a "cartoon" painting. Looks cool, specially in a mass of bodies. I dont think Ill EVER paint all my boyz to the stand of my nobz/warbosses but a re due of that style will be fine enough

I use a "cell shading" look to many of mine - it tends to look comic-booky to some, but given how OTT ridiculous some of the tropes and concepts used in 40kays are, that's fine by me. This is not my artwork, it does illustrate (groan) the concept though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
