Wizards of the Coast has announced plans to release six Dungeons & Dragons titles in the first four months of 2011. The new titles include more Dungeon Tiles, the Deluxe Dungeon Master’s Screen, a new Gamma World expansion, a Player’s Option for dark anti-heroes, and a book of magical treasures.
In January, Wizards plans to release Caverns of Icewind Dale Dungeon Tiles. This set of ready-to-use map tiles feature ice-clogged caves, winter landscapes, and encounter locations in the Icewind Dales. Compatible with all Dungeon Tiles. Suggested retail price: $11.95.
February will see three new releases:
The Deluxe Dungeon Master’s Screen is a durable hard board four-panel screen, illustrated on one side and covered with handy charts and tables on the other. Suggested retail price: $9.95.
WOTC begins a new series of paperback books that focus on small portions of the Dungeons & Dragons core world with D&D Gazetteer: The Nentir Vale. Designed for DM’s, this book includes background and geographic information, secrets, and story hooks for the Nentir region. Suggest retail price: $19.95.
The D&D Gamma World setting receives a new expansion called Legion of Gold. This is a boxed set expansion that includes an adventure, double-sided map, mutant monsters, character and monster tokens, and 10 game cards. Suggested retail price: $29.99.
In March, WOTC will release D&D Player’s Option: Heroes of Shadow, which offers new character creation rules and options for players who want to play anti-hero style characters with a darker theme. Suggested retail price: $19.95.
Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Emporium is scheduled to release in April. This book combines both rules and story content to provide DM’s with interesting magical items for their campaigns, complete with deep backgrounds and adventure hooks. Suggested retail price: $29.95

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Not a great start to the year, but I guess since they are begging the old gamers to come back, Gamma World is a plus.

Isn't Gamma World that sci-fi module? I remember it being mentioned in one of the old AD&D Dungeon Master's guides.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

The new Gamma World looks awful. It is 4e dumbed way way down. For all practical purposes there are only three stats. That isn't really the bad part though, you have to buy booster packs to play it becuase of the random nature of the mustations and such.
For the Gamma World Encounters, instead of providin a small adventure and pregens (or make your own), the first thing in the pack says that the organizers and any DM's have to buy the Core box and some boosters and the players are expected to buy boosters to play. It isn't really a demo if you have to buy the full game to try it out.
The Heroes of Shadow (which is essentially PHB4) seems like it could be interesting. The only classes in it I know of atm are Necromancer and Hexblade. Not sure whether there will be any new races introduced.

I am in total agreement with Ahtman regarding Gamma World. I can't get excited about RPG expansions released via booster pack. The RPG world really needs a current, dedicated post-apocolyptic setting (shout out if you know of one as I don't!) but WotC's current strengths would probably not play into that anyway. In fact, they clearly don't--as evinced by Gamma World itself. I guess I'll have to quench my post-apocolyptic thirst with New Vegas. Although I am not a detractor of 4E, I don't think I could really get into it as a PC without a really extraordinary DM. I hope WotC will include some fat for their settings somewhere in the massive stream of new options. I really don't think character building in 4E requires the amount of options currently available. Meanwhile, the D&D worlds seem thinner than ever. You almost have to get earlier edition source material to figure out what the settings are really about. This is a major contrast to a lot of other games out there, the published material for which is nearly all fluff (also happening in miniatures--looking at you Malifaux)--i.e., pages and pages of fan fiction penned about franchises that more often than not yet to have fanbases. That's annoying, no doubt, and I welcome WotC's attempt to give what fluff they do include a crunch-justification for being published. Even so, this remains a weak spot for 4E as far as I can tell. So while "Heroes of Shadow" sounds interesting, I'm betting I won't be moved to buy it. Like so many other interesting 4E books . . .

Isn't that more along the lines of Judge Dredd rather than Fallout?

Paranoia is more along the lines of Logan's Run + Let's Make a Deal + The Running Man.
