Can units inside a vehicle fire out the hatch of a fast vehicle if it moved at crusing speed? Checked the rules and fast vehicles at cruising speed may fire a single weapon, however it says units inside a vehicle may not fire at crusing speed. I wondered if the fire at cruising speed from the vehicle applied to the unit too?

Check the Fire Point rules, those will tell you what speeds embarked passengers may fire at, and then check to see if the Fast vehicle rules change any of those embarked passenger rules .

mercer:

I've noticed you recently started playing Eldar. So, if this question is in the context of shooting from a WS (or Falcon), I should point out that a WS (or Falcon) has no fire points, so no shooting at all from it

Grakmar, did I say this was for Eldar? I know a Falcon has no fire points so I wouldn't ask that question. Plus I've been playing Eldar for over a year now.

Don Mondo is appears I've answered my own question anyway.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound condescending or anything. Some people miss that and I was trying to be proactive.

I was actually thinking the same thing - I forget at times other non-Eldar armies get fast vehicles

Right now specifically, Blood Angel rhinos.

The vehicle is considered the fast vehicle, not the unit inside would be my call. Embarked unit would follow normal rules for firing from a vehicle that has moved at cruising speed.

Correct you are. The passengers do not use the vehicle rules for shooting, they check what it says under Transports and Passengers Shooting. It makes Dark Eldar very sad and everyone else very happy.

Such as dark eldar and being open topped

Rules for Passengers = Can fire at combat speed

Rules for Fast = Changes rules for VEHICLES firing ability compared to movement chart (this answers your question)

Rules for Roads = Gives additional movement for moving at CRUSING speed (So again, would not allow you to fire if moving over 6", this is a common misconception, I have seen/heard space marine players try to fire from their rhinos after moving 12" on a road as they think the road just "Adds 6 inches")

Hope this helps,

~DAR

Thank you for dissecting my 'sympathetic' post to the individual trying to offer some additional insight into the discussion.
