Ok, as most of you know the new dark eldar are coming out next month and it got me and a friend thinking. Eldar and dark eldar would never ally and we can not ally them at a doubles tournament, but then we thought hand corasir pirates would ! so here was a plan 500pts each eldar and dark eldar, as the saying goes 'a man, an plan, panama' but that has nothing to do with it

So i need to create a pirate looking army which has storm gaurdians, wave serpent, autarch and jetbikes/vypers, plus at some point some dire avengers but thats after the doubles army, so using a mix of eldar and dark eldar (new stuff) how can i combine kits to make craftworld eldar look somewhere in between good and evil

One plan is to use the new Lelith Hesperax model as an autarch, just because i love the model, and the hanging on kabalites on the outside of the wave serpent

Here are the links to the new models:

So ideas on modeling, and painting these chaps and chappeses

The dark elf corsairs could be useful have pretty savage blades and you could probably use their helmets for the guardians 'cause they are pretty menacing.

Why not? Outside of a fluff issue there any reason why you can't have them allied, because if its a codex/codex rule then the conversion won't work either (same eldar codex after all).

The DE Corsairs will be your best bet and I would honestly use the new DE bits to go with them instead of the craftworld eldar ones.

If you're using the eldar codex, you don't want to use too many DE bits or it will become very confusing. Examples: for jetbikes you should certainly use the guardian jet bikes (shame, since it's an older kit) but feel free to use DE warrior bits for the riders. Same for dire avengers or guardians - in that case I would use DE torsos and legs, possibly some close cobat weapons or such, but use the distinctive eldar helmets and shuriken catapults. For Eldar vehicles, I would use them as normal, maybe with some blades and skulls tacked on.

This sort of conversion crossed my mind as soon as I saw the new DE minis as well. I think it would have to be done subtly or it'll look very strange. Don't use too many DE bits. It might be better to paint your Eldar in a dark scheme, and don't use any craftworld eldar runes or visual motifs, and only use a few DE bits, generally on armour and close combat weapons, as opposed to going overboard making 50/50 mixed kits.

Another thing you could consider is using DE chainmail legs with the DA bodies and gun, gives them a different look.

I wouldn't put guys hanging onto the outside of the waveserpent, if you use the GW model. Consider: It's sealed for use in a vacuum. Putting guys on the outside kind of defeats the purpose.

Thanks guys for the responses, my one concern with the new models would be that the torsos and arms dont have the same joints as the craftworld models

@Irdiumstern- you have a point there, so i won't do that

@Casper- thanks for the advice on the fact it is the same codex after all, so yes if ewe ever went to a 'proper touranment' so to speak we would have to check if would all work

Legs, bodies from the warriors from the DE kit, and regular eldar arms, heads and weapons.
Your pirates are still craftworld oriented.

I'm also tempted to use the new kits to put together a corsair themed force, but I think you're mistaken to say that the Craftworlders and Dark Eldar would never ally. Also don't forget there are potentially some forgeworld corsair models coming next year.

This is a good idea and with the new models, I think it will end up looking fantastic!
