Does Vulkan's twin-linking of flamers also affect the Land Raider Redeemer's Flamestorm cannons? They are flamers in everything but name.

Flamestorm cannons arent a flamer or a heavy flamer.

Vulkan doesnt TL them.

Regardless of the fact that fluffwise he SHOULD...he doesn't

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Why should he fluffwise?

I mean, logically it should. They should have worded it as 'all flame weapons and melta weapons'.

But fluffwise?

Logically he shouldn't, because they aren't flamers, the rule is clear. Fluff wise he should, because they're heat based weapons which are the Salamander's deal.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

+1
It makes perfect sense (especially considering the Salamanders' penchant for Redeemers), but it would bee too good, methinks.

Even though it should arguably be twin linked, it doesn't matter too much as you will wound most things on a 2+.

The interesting thing is fluff wise if its all heat based weapons that should include plasma also as it is super heated gas.

Yeah, but I see nothing in his fluff that says 'When Vulkan is around, Flamers become crazy good!'. And Vulkan isn't in every Salamanders force, especially fluffwise. Logically it should work on Flamestorm Cannons because they're basically heavy heavy flamers. Consistency is good, but the rules say otherwise.

No, for the same reason that Incinerators (from allied GKs) would not be twin-linked, Flamestorm cannons would not be twin linked.

And for the same reason that Infernus pistols aren't twin-linked and that Melta-bombs aren't master crafted.

The entry for the flamestorm cannon states it's a larger version of a flamer. It's profile also supports this as it works exactly the same as a flamer template.

So?

The rule only affects a specific list of weapons. "Flamestorm Cannon" is not on that list.

Forgetting the fluff... Vulkan is in EVERY Salamanders list I have ever encountered.

In response to the OP question. RAW wins.

Guys, (hopefully this hasnt been posted aready) doesnt a unit require Chapter Tactics to benefit from a special captains rules? or is Vulkan an exception?

Even so, Flamestorm cannons sadly do not fall under flamers, If they were FAQd then they would. (like the inferno cannon has been FAQd as counting as a flame weapon for the purposes of the Avatar ignorng it)

No, Vulkan cannot twin link flamestorm cannons.

Oh well. I suppose complaining about not twin linked flamestorms is like complaining about winning concert tickets and ONLY getting the second row. What ever. Thanks friends!

Vulkans rule is worded differently.

Vulkans rule makes:
Everyone lose Special Rule X
and
Items on List Y gain Ability Z

At no point do those items have to have lost Special Rule X to benefit.

Compare this to the wording of Khans, where it says "all units in your army exchange the Herpa Derp special rule for the ability to DerpdeDerp. If you choose to do this, all dedicated transports also gain the ability to DerpdeDerp..."
