Ok, I need some help creating my character in Deathwatch. I am REALLY new to RPG and anything could help. Thank you in advanced.

I leave out Apothecary and Librarian due to complications in game play.

Take the base chapter that appeals the most or one that goes well with your class.

I want to be a Blood Angel Assault Marine., but what about the rest of the stuff, like stats, weapons, and abilities?

Well, it would help to read through the skills and traits/abilites sections, so you have a basic idea what each one does (or at least know where to look it up). This will aid you in choosing what skills/abilities will benefit the premise of your character.

For example, wanting to be a BA Assault marine, you would want your marine to be able to use his jump pack effectively, so you would want to choose a path that gives you access to that skill.


For stats, the same rules apply. Obviously, you will want to lean more towards WS over BS, making your marine better with a chainsword than he is with a bolter, and for him to have a higher Agility statistic so he can close with the enemy faster.


Really, if you are having too much difficulty, you need to ask your GM for help. That is what he is there for!

Also, do you have the book? If you don't you should get a copy. Or borrow it from your GM. It has step by step rules for creation in it. It tells you exactly what you have to roll and how many times.

Assault Marines automatically get proficiency with Jump packs but you can upgrade that SKILL later in the tree.

More then happy to chat pros and cons of talents and skills but you need to have the book to take the first step.

Go to the FFG website and the Deathwatch section. Tons of articles there about the game as well as downloads for the preview scenarios as well.

If you have the book then go to the creation section that is in the front. It will tell you to roll 2D10 and add them to a number several times and assign them to the stats you want.

I recommend finding the class that does what you want. Find the chapter that appeals the most and combining them. read the demeanor. Check out the skills the class gives you and then assign the points you are given at character creation.
