Subject: Quick question - Female Kasrkin/Storm Troopers in 40Kverse?
|
 |
Tough Tyrant Guard
|
Not interested in starting a "Female Space Marines???" kinda thread, but I'm toying with piece of fluff in my head centered around a squad of Kasrkin and I was wondering if there's anything in the canon that explicitly says whether or not there are female Kasrkin or Storm Troopers in the Imperial Guard?
I know there's definitely female troopers (Gaunt's Ghosts, Last Chancers etc.) out there, but are they allowed to become storm troopers or do they just get shunted off into becoming Sisters of Battle once they're picked up from the schola progenium?
Thanks!

Even if the Ministorum calls first dibs on female students, there'd have to be a few that don't have that no-sell-warp-lightning-on-a-5+ level of faith. There's no reason why those dropouts couldn't go on to serve as stormtroopers, arbites, or in any of the other disciplines that recruit from the schola.

I'm sure there would be, particularly in the Kasrkins as everyone on Cadia fights so even if the females of the future are not as good at fighting on average as the males, there would have to be some that are.

There is no restriction keeping females out of the Stormtroopers. As for Kasrkyn, meh, I don't really care.
There's also no restriction keeping females out of the Arbites, out of the Ecclesiarchy, out of the Mechanicus, out of the [insert every single organization of galactic importance save the Astartes].
The Imperium isn't sexist-- females aren't mutants (despite what certain wargamers seem to believe...), and anything that isn't a mutant is oppressed equally.

Don't see a reason why there aren't female storm troopers or commissars. GW actually put out 2 Female Commissar models. There are no GW female storm troopers that I know of but you could convert your own.

4chan (and 1d4chan) is a moronic place, ignore it. Nothing good can come of referencing it.
Also, you can play a female Stormtrooper / Commissar / Arbitrator / Techpriest / whatever in the FFG series of games. The only groups that are gender-restricted are Astartes (a rule that, in my experience, is commonly ignored) and Sororitas.

I think that females are more than elligible for Stormtrooper status. In many cases, I would have to say squads of female stormtroopers could not be turned down (who turns down stormtroopers in the W40K universe?)

My experience is opposite this.
Female Space Marines - don't do it.
It is a moronic idea, ignore it. Nothing good can come of referencing it.
There are PLENTY of other excellent places for females to make their mark in the 40K Galaxy, in all walks of life.

On the risk of continuing this off-topic conversation...
In truth, any idea in a roleplay scenario is dependent on the maturity level of your group, and of course, some groups aren't mature enough for something like that. But since my usual roleplay groups already normally operate under house rules anyway (custom weapons, for example, as well as streamlined rules for full auto firing, and/or a few other modifications for flavor or fun), if someone comes up with an interesting and believable backstory, nobody really cares about minor details such as that. For that matter, someone even used a modified Sororitas to represent hidden chaos worshipper (whom we later shot to pieces, but you know, it was fun while it lasted).
Mature adults and experienced roleplayers can handle things like that. I can certainly say the people I roleplay with are mature enough.
So, back on topic.
Re-reading the Cain books, Cain himself notes that usually the Ecclesiarchy attempts to move female progenium students into Sororitas programs, but in the end it's up to the individual student (as long as they qualify for the program they want to go into I assume) to decide. That's why it was considered rare to have a female commissar, but not unheard of.

Females can be everywhere, in any organisation, in the 40k universe, except for the Astartes. Thats why we have the Sororitas, if you ask me

Female soldiers from Cadia are restricted to the Interior Guard and the orbital defense stations.
So no, no female Kasrkin that you'd be seeing shipped from warzone to warzone. No female Cadians, period, that you'd be seeing outside of battles on Cadia or the defense stations orbiting Cadia proper.
As for "standard" Stormtroopers...yeah. There's a possibility of female stormtroopers cropping up.

Eye of Terror codex mentioned the Interior Guard originally, along with a few novels("Gunheads" and "Cadian Blood" off the top of my head, and I THINK "Ravenor" too) mentioning that there are entire regiments of females in the Cadian Interior Guard, mostly operating as a reserve force or as aggressors in training exercises for the Shock Troop/Kasrkin regiments to ensure they're not exposed nonstop to danger.

Uh no, they don't.
Commissars, Stormtroopers, and Inquisitors can all come from the ranks of the standard Imperial Guard/PDF, or in the case of Inquisitors...sometimes even the Adeptus Arbites. It's just relatively rarer for that to happen than someone to be elevated.
So yeah. That's wrong as an absolute statement.
