And its alot easier to level/craft then 11 was.
Polished MMO ? Didnt know those exist.. and if your thinking wow.. yea.. classes are never balanced there.. as the game is attempted balanced around pvp.
Every mmo has issues, every mmo can be considered to have lack of content, WoW.. which is suppost to be full of content is mostly.. go kill this many to save this girls teddy bear.. in reality.. your just grinding.
WoW has a good storyline, i enjoyed the WOTLK and the ones before it, but as all of them.. when you hit the end of the game, there is only what you make out of it.
(i dont pvp in wow as its who currently has the FOTM class or duo for arena)
btw im not a ff14 fanboi.. id easily suggest FF14 and WoW for mmo's for people to play as WoW is the most established longest running that is actually a decent game.. and FF14 is just a few weeks old with tons of potential.
A complete lack of beneficial features (such as useful maps with waypoints, an auction house, a recipe book, labeled vendors, etc.) is not unique, it's simply painful. Even the most unpolished MMOs in this day and age have features like those that serve to make your life a little easier; FFXIV's approach is akin to taking many giant leaps backwards for the entire genre. FFXIV fixed absolutely none of the glaring problems of FFXI, and the problem is only compounded because it's a new release that has been rushed to it's release date. Class balance is arbitrary when faced with the monumental problems that FFXIV presents it's player base.
You are given little to no advice on what you should be doing, and must consult an outside source for nearly every task you want to perform. Enemy placement is awful and completely unforgiving (and finding out the level of an enemy is still as unintuitive as ever). You can only complete about 8 bare-bones quests in a single day, which necessitates grinding to a ridiculous degree. Story quests are still next to impossible to find; you basically have to stumble upon them. Combat is still fairly slow-paced, with an incredible amount of downtime and a high degree of difficulty which only serves to drag it down even further. The interface is absolutely worthless without a gamepad, and even then, it's not as good as it could be.
FFXIV might have a few interesting ideas, a storyline that actually exists (not to say that it's particularly good), some pretty cutscenes and graphics, and a class system that might be somewhat unique (even if it's fairly worthless in practice), but that can't stand against all of the glaring problems that Square Enix didn't even bother to address.
Just to let you know, I wasn't referring to WoW in particular (in fact, that's one of the few MMOs that I won't play, despite it being fairly polished and streamlined). The truth is,
any MMO is more polished, streamlined, and full of content than FFXIV. Continue to waste your money on a game that wastes absolutely unneccessary amounts of your life on worthless technicalities and bad game design if you wish.
