My better half is currently watching this while I doing more interesting things (like watching paint dry). Now what I want to know is, as Simon Cowel said there were 200,000 to start how did they audition them all? If you just give each of them one minute it would still take nearly five months of non-stop auditioning.

Not that I'm saying its fixed or anything...

Only a handful get to meet the celeb team, the bulk never get anywhere near them. You audition in front of other production people who chose certain ones to put in front of the celeb judges for the purposes of filming/judging, then if you are sufficiently entertaining you might end up on TV. Everything else like the cheering and waving of flags is manufactured just like everything else Simon Cowel does.
