Can you take multiple upgrades of the same type (and do they stack)? I can’t seem to find any restriction against it in any FAQ and honestly, I think the point cost for the upgrades are right. Sorry if this has been brought up before. I’m writing up a thread/ article idea for the tactical section and wanted to get clarification.
2 different examples
Bloodthirster: Death Strike x2. (‘May have any of the following’). He’s a MC, so he could use two guns per turn. Nid’s have been doing this for some time with their Dakka fex configuration.
Herald of Khorne: Juggernaut (‘May have one of the following’) + Unholy Might x 3. (‘May take three of the following’) under options. As an example for a profile enhancement that stack, Mark of Nurgle + bikes do stack for toughness bonus (but not for instant death).
*Note: I’m not considering the squad upgrades. It’s clearly written with ‘gift ONE model with’ …
If this hasn’t been thought of before, I’m totally taking credit for giving the Daemons some flexibility. It’s priced right and even for the Greater daemon and princes who aren’t capped on gifts (‘May have any of the following’). We are talking about 100pts upgrade for Chaos demon princes to be S10. And a 60-75pt upgrade for Greater deamons.

Please point out where it says that you can take multiples from that list.

In the 'nid codex is says replace any set of scything talons'. Does that mean you can't take the same upgrade twice?

I just see the limitation of two in the nid codex rather than say 3 for heralds and unlimited for Big boys. It just struck me as weird that 'nids would be the only ony army to take duplicate ranged weapons systems.

The profile upgrade is a different question

You can replace any set, of which you have two. So you can change both sets of scything talons, and you are allowed one upgrade for each one. This is different to "you may take any of this list" - nothing states "you may take multiple of each item"

If it doesnt say you can, you cant.

You also can't draw comparisons from one codex to another. The nids get to do their thing and daemons get theirs. To say that nids can do something so my daemons should be able to do it as well is like saying that since SM can upgrade troops to having missile launchers for free so should my bloodletters.

It also isnt the same thing - nids get to replace two items, so you can then have two of the sme item - you get to make two picks from essentially two lists. With daemons you pick from one list.

solkan and nosferatu1001 have it spot on. Nothing says you can take multiples, so you can't.

Of course it doesn't say you CAN'T take multiples either...

When it comes down to it your opponite will make the same agruements as those that have already been made against your takeing an upgrade twice.

They will simply cry "foul" and walk away without playing you.
