It seems to me that no matter how much testing GW may (or may not) do, something gets broken with every new Edition or Codex that comes out.

I'd really like to see regular updates in White Dwarf and on their website, rather than wait years between changes. I'm not suggesting major changes, more like tweaks.

In particular, it really ticks me off that iconic models end up never being used because they're not worth their points value - Pariahs come to mind, for example, or Vanguard veterans.

So they would simply adjust points values up or down a little to reflect the relative value of units.

Does this make sense?

There was a temporary 5th ed. codex in White Dwarf. It was nothing like what was later published on paper though.

I'm not really thinking about wholesale changes though, just tweaks that could be done on a one or two page reference sheet.

Perhaps Vanguard Vets wasn't a good example. How about Assault Cannons on LandSpeeders? They were de rigeur a while back, now looking very overpriced.

So the Service Pack might lower the cost to +30 points, making them a more viable option, without having to wait until a whole new edition.
