I was thinking it would be cool to make a battle field that is a maze of overpasses. There would be two huge platforms from the table edges up to about 8" from the table edges with roads branching out from them. Everything would be sectioned off and there would be special rules added so that a stray blast could destroy that section and cause a chain reaction of falling sections. Any destroyed section would then count as impassible and any models on a section when it was destroyed are destroyed with no we'll be back, regeneration, or anything off the sort.

So, what do you think? Any more ideas that could be added to make this better?

Like the idea but a little bit to general. What about flying and hover units? A land raider would be immobilised but surely not destroyed? What kind of strength is needed to set off these explosions, ect.

I knew it was general, I just had to get the idea down first. Any ideas as to the limits are fine by me.

I can see where your coming from with the skimmers and such, however I don't see the land raider rule working out. The way I'm looking at it, the only thing that can escape it would be skimmers and such, everything else being left to fall to their doom. I doubt even a land raider could survive a 50 ft. drop.

The guys from TopGear put a 80's Toyota Hilux on a 20-storey-building that was about to be blown up. The whole building collapsed spectacularly...and on top of it was the Toyota. Some work with a crowbar and the engine was still running.

I think something as durable as Russes, Chimeras, Land Raiders and Ork Trukks should have the ability to survive this. Just give 'em an automatic penetrating hit, I say.

Well the LR is heavier so the push force exerted on it when it lands on a point will be much greater.

The Land Raider is designed to be able to drive on the bottom of the ocean. The Blood Angels drop those things from low altitude AFAIK. A crumbling bridge should be a problem, but not certain doom for such a machine.

Well my true reasoning in the first place was that the entire battle is being held on a raised platform. When you fall from a collapsed section whether you survive or not, your pretty much out of the fight.

Oh so you dont mean just raised as in a few meters like 10-30 but by a much greater distance. Like a bridge on a canyon?

There aren't, I'm afraid, as this idea is already the best idea ever created by anyone.

Recently read Helsreach and this reminds me of the highway and connecting overpasses that ran through the center of the lower hive.

They also flooded the engine with sea water, put a bomb in it, dropped a piano on it and a dozen other stupid but funny things.

yeah . . i'm going to make this . . . 10 years from now, when i have the time. It would fit well over toop the lava field gamimg board, and give you an excuse for having bridges, and having vehicles die when they fall.

Sort of... I kind of pictured it more as an intricate string of overpasses crossing a large tundra. That way when you fall, even if you survive, it'll take you a while to get back on top of the overpasses. I think I'll have to make a sloppy copy out of card board, and post pictures of it before my idea really makes sense.

@Lucid: That actually would be a legitimate way to explain it. Sure would save a lot of arguing.

Hopefully so. Also, would you still be able to deep strike by Drop Pod? the force of lots of metal full of 8-foot tall guys in full armor would slamming into a bridge might prove... interesting. Other than that, yeah, that's a really good idea.

Hmmm... I would say you can try to but the drop pod is destroyed and each Marine must pass a dangerous terrain test.

I'm imagining that there will be a dice roll on such occasion to see if the section it lands on collapses(this same dice roll would apply to the stray blast rule mentioned above).

Any other opinions on this?
