A small store not too far from home has a group of new kids roped into 40K. The store will be hosting a small tournament soon.

Instead of taking some hard-core list, I want to use this opportunity to play something fun, even if it's total rubbish.

So it's Ork Bikers. The big question is;

"Big squads, or multiple, small squads?"

Option one:

HQ - 180 points
Wazzdakka

Troops - 680 points
12xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 340
12xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 340

Fast Attack - 140 points
Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw
Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw

That's 1000 on the nose.

Option two:
HQ - 180 points
Wazzdakka

Troops - 940 points
5xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 165
5xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 165
5xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 165
5xBikers, Nob, PK, BP 165
5xBikers, Nob, PK, Combi-rokkit 165
3xBikers, Nob, PK 110

The slightly odd equipment is due to some of these Nobs' provenance as members of a Nob Biker squad. I might build two more PK-BP Nobs if I find the willpower.

Fast Attack - 140 points
Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw 70
Deff Kopta, Rokkits, Buzzsaw 70

That's 1260 and it seems a bit preferable to me - more klaws!

Any ideas about tweaks to the core layout are welcome. Any suggestions about what to do with Wazzdakka (I'm thinking he'll run with a squad) would also be appreciated.

The tournament points-limit will be perhaps 1500 points, maybe less. So any ideas about what to add that would go well with the theme will be helpful. I've got a couple of buggies, plenty of additional Deff Koptas, Stormboyz (which I don't really like and don't think go that well here), a few trukks, and plenty of things to put in trukks.

I'm kinda diggin' the biker thing, so I might go with all bikes and 'Koptas - remember, rubbish is okay, fun is the idea.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Option 2 looks good to me.

Wazzdakka is pretty expensive, 180 points probably don't want to use him in 1000 points.

Maybe lose the Buzzsaws, take a third Deff Kopta and then play with your bike squad numbers a bit maybe 7 man squads. But 5 looks like it could work in this case.

Depending on how models/ points work out you could put Wazz in a bike squad and turbo/ shoot but honestly probably better to get him in close combat.

If you're running an ork bike list then don't listen to Tacobake...Wazdakka is a MUST to make your bikes troops.

I would run squads of 6 bikes + nob. That's a pretty good number and will get you a few troops.

I would find room for Lootas. You need ranged anti tank to pop those transports open for your bikes to assault.

Squad of Gretchin would be good. Cheap obj. holder while the rest of your army moves up

1500pts

HQ

Wazdakka

TROOP

4x 6 Warbikers + Nob
-power klaw, bosspole

18 Gretchin + Runtherd

ELITE

8 Lootas

7 Lootas

FAST

Deffkopta
rokkits, buzzsaw

Deffkopta
rokkits, buzzsaw

1499pts

One difference from Flyingmiata would be to make the Lootas into 3 squads of Elites with five in it each. As each squad needs to lose two to force morale anyway, having 5 lessens the points you lose if they do run.

I would also suggest adding in a warboss on bike with powerklaw and attack squig for a bit more hitting power.

yeah that is the other option w/ the lootas. Can't go wrong either way with 3 squads of 5 or 2 med. size squads

This is well understood. I'm actually employing Zhardsnark da Rippa in the role of Wazdakka. I'd love to add a Warboss on bike, but alas, no suitable model. There would probably be points issues as well.

If you mean six models in total; I can do that with a few bikers left over.

Thanks for the advice.

Da Rippa is pretty awesome by his rules. Initiative power klaw and warboss stats with a tank shocking bike is pure orky shennadigans. And hes cheaper than wazdakka

Moreover, it's a spectacular model! I'm looking forward to using him in Apocalypse with a Mad Dok cyborg special.

Dont listen to anyone who says "Lose the buzzsaws" They are amazing every game. A couple games ago, he turn one assaulted a whirlwind, it was the only thing i really could assault, and i prevented it from firing. Next turn i shot at a razorback, blew it up, and assaulted the combat squad inside - i won combat, and they ran off the board. Then i looked back at the whirlwind and blew that up in assault. Made his points back in no time at all.

Now, for bikers, i really dont like the normal bikers, nob bikers are pretty solid, however i dont think they are worth playing at 1500 points or less, since you are depending to much on the bikers. I just think ork bikers are silly (Unless you are playing them at the 2500 point or more level, and then they make a solid list because you can back them up with battlewagons filled with stuff and lootas in the backfield.)

Just my opinion.

No worries, I will keep up with my Buzzsaws .

The bikers are just for fun; the list isn't meant to be competitive, but it's also not meant to be a joke.

t5 models are competitive by themselves. 90% of your opponent's army will need 5 or 6s to wound them, so they are no joke tough and a 4+ cover save for the nasty guns. Each bike pumps out 3 shots TL...So 2/3 shots per bike will hit and 2/3 of those will wound. They are very killy. As much as the Warboss's 10 str hits kick ass, you only need to worry about Land Raiders and Monoliths w/o him. Which you might as well just ignore anyways as they won't do much to your list.

Most people don't like the idea of bikes because you don't get many models, but they can be the nastiest army to face.
