So, I show up at the FLGS, and lo and behold the owner is having a sale on a lot of FoW stuff. A few hundred dollars later, I now own a Leicthe Panzer Kompanie box, a 10.5 cm gun battery, a Stuka, and a Battle Foam case to lug it all around in . This raises a couple of questions, though. Now, by my math, the models I have leaves me a few hundred points short of 2,000, which is the normal pointed game at my local store. What would you recommend for rounding this force out? Additionally, the artillery is a late-war set, but it looks like I can back-date it by removing the Kubelwagens and adding a motorcycle with a side car. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help!

Nope, you've got the wrong guns. Initially, the leFH18 was not fitted with a muzzle brake. In 1941 a muzzle brake was fitted to allow longer range charges to be fired. This increased the range by about 1,800 yards and was known as the leFH 18M. In March 1942 a requirement was issued for a lighter howitzer. This led to a second modification, known as the leFH 18/40 (the guns in your box). This modification consisted of mounting the barrel of an leFH 18M on the carriage for a 7.5 cm PaK 40 antitank gun. The new carriage increased the rate of fire as well as making the howitzer lighter. Additionally, a more efficient muzzle brake was added, decreasing the recoil. Ballistically, the 10.5 cm leFH 18M and the leFH 18/40 are identical.
If my memory serves me well Im sure German Arty uniforms changed in 1943, which means you've got the wrong figures as well.
Id take that box back to the shop.

Ah, thanks for the info. I talked with some of the guys at my FLGS, and they said they would be fine with me using the late war models to represent an early war battery, so I will probably just hold on to these. Apparently, the difference between the crew members is mainly shoes (late) vs. boots (early), but I'm told Battlefront doesn't make early war artillery crewman.
The question remains though, what should I do with the remaining points? By my math, I'm at 1705 (including the 25 point upgrade for the Stuka). I was thinking of taking some form of mechanized infantry.

Well, you can't go wrong with Panzergrenadiers or whatever the equivalent is for the period you're playing in.
Though some pioneers or some AA units maybe....?

I would definitely add some recon and more infantry to that list, all the way to 2k points. The recon will prevent ambushes, giving your more flexibility with your armour, and the infantry will allow you to dig in more effectively on objectives.

Thanks for the help! I have only played a couple of small-point intro games, so I don't really understand things like recon and ambush yet. I'm sure I'll learn the hard way soon enough .

Grenadiers and recon as mentioned before, or maybe some AA. If AA is your choice get the 8.8 Flak36 guns OR mobile quad guns witch alows for more flexibility.
