Need some input on my fight with my marine models to come up with a decent army:

HQ:
Libby with Nullzone, Gate = 100
Command Squad (6 man) w/ Apothecary, Comp Champ w/ Storm Shield, 2 vets w/meltaguns, 1 vet w/pf, 1 vet w/ bp (potential gate fodder) = 213
(Mainly to accompany Libby on his bounces around the board)

Elite:
Dread w Assault Cannon,DCCW, SB = 115
Dread w Plasma Cannon,DCCW, SB = 115

Troops:
Scout 10 man unit with Telion, camo cloaks (one ML, rest sniper rifles) = 227
Tactical 10 man unit with serg (pf/bp), lascannon, meltagun, razorback twlHB) = 250
Tactical 10 man unit with serg (pf/bp), lascannon, meltagun, razorback twlHB) = 250

Hvy Support:
Dev 10 man with 4 ML's = 240

Think thats 1500 on the nose if i did my math right, and puts a decent model count on the field (does that matter anymore?)

Thing to consider for feedback would be no $$ for additional units. :(
Have to rely on what I can find 2nd hand, so DP's are pretty much an impossibility. Do have alot more to work with though. Remaining Inventory is
22 bolter marines
2 PlasCannon, 4 ML, 4 HB, 1 MM hvy wpn marines
3 bikes, 1 HB attack bike
1 more dread (TwLC, ML)
4 Plasma gun marines
10 termies (2 cyclones, 2 chainfists)
Pedro
5 sternguard (serg w/pf)
11 assault (pf serg, LC serg, 2 flamers)
Various leaders (libby, captains etc)

Looking at having a good solid fun 1500 force. Don't need tournie competitive level but does the general populace here think it might work?

I think that you need to re=read the codex entry on the command squad because I don't think that you are allowed to take one for the librarian (It's also one man too big).

Also, I think that the strategy of gating around is over rated, just my opinion, but others may find it useful. I mainly don't like it because I roll horribly when it comes to deep strike scatters.

I'd convert one Razor into a rhino, put the libby in it, with NullZone and Avenger.

Can you switch the SBs to HeavyFlamers? And, the two h2h dreads might need EA in case they get Stunned.

I'd replace both LasCans with free MLs. 5e has so much Cover so why pay for an enemy's 4+ save anyway?

Mind you, I'm not a fan of Dreads in general, and you mentioned not being able to afford DPs ... but well, here's a great quote to consider:

Was planning on having him ride with CS tactical in razorback actually. Easy to switch gate to avenger though.

Well, can also drop in plasma cannons instead. How prevelant is armor 14 nowadays anyway?

Quite a bit in the LA scene. The thing is, a MultiMelta will do you better. It'll be close enough to not allow a Cover Save and 'tis better than a LAsCan. I've largely seen LasCans disappear since 5e.

PFs on a 5 man Tac squad is such a waste. Just drop it.

MMs on tacticals is also a waste so stick with the ML.

LasPlas RB is much better than the TL LC one.

Generally you have too much toys. If you can I would drop the Devs.

Alright, take a rhino, put 2 lascannon marines, and a heavy bolter marine on top of it. Now you have an autocannon predator with lascannons! I'm sure the guys at your gw will let you do it. They let me get away with proxying pretty much anything as long as they are gw models and look close enough to what you're proxying. Seriously, try it out :tu:
