My brother and I are buying island of blood, and Iwould like to know how we should expand the high elves. Any ideas?

buy spearmen and archers first off. For a full size game you need about 10 archers and 25 spearmen if they take a magic banner.

Then expand with a unit of dragon princes, and 25 of whichever elite infantry you fancy. I personally take Phoenix Guard, although White lions are pretty posh as well.

Definitely agree on the spearmen and the Phoenix guard. One is essential (as a core unit) and the other is just a great special choice.

If you only got the one Island of Blood box I'd also suggest looking on ebay (Or another preferred online store) for more Swordmaster models. A unit of just 10 won't do all that much on the field.

I would get some more core troops first. Start by getting more spearmen and archers. After this, get more swordmasters and some heavy cavalry such as dragon princes.

Get some more core troops, as previously said, then personaly i'd get some Dragon princes and some Pheonix guard.

Also, I forgot to tell you get at least 1 Bolt Thrower (are they called that? I collect Dark elves see).

Take a look at the new battalion, it's a good deal and it'll sort you out with all the Core you need, plus a bolt-thrower. The chariot's hit-and-miss.

In 8th, the Dragon Princes are not very effective. In fact, I wouldn't bother with them at all.

Spearmen / Seaguard are the core you want to build up. Don't go overboard buying archers. You will never need more than 20.

After that, you want a solid unit of Phoenix Guard. This is your bunker for your mages.

Pick up some Swordmasters, and a couple of Great Eagles to round out your army.

Archer's aren't worth it IMO. In 8th edition they really aren't that great.

don't forget to also pick up an on foot here to use as your BSB and in lower point games when the griffon is too expensive.
