Subject: X'rer'tes, Daemon Ascendant
|
 |
Lord of the Fleet

Ancient records indicate that X'rer'tes was previously known as Sergeant Iridius, who in the early stages of the Istvaan III massacre, led a unit of Imperial Army troopers into a bunker to survive the Life Eater bombardment. The subsequent firestorm collapsed the tunnel system of the bunker entrance, and for three weeks, Iridius' unit was forced to live in solitary confinement, plunging deeper and deeper into madness until he was recovered by a World Eater squad, along with the mutilated remains of his unit, whom he was forced to consume in order to survive. He plunged further into the realm of despair and damnation, eventually reaching the pinnacle of Daemonic Ascension when he butchered a platoon of Loyalist soldiers, his abilities boosted further by the gifts of the Chaos Gods. Now he resembles nothing of his former self his armour now fused into his own flesh, his arms grown into huge talons capable of butchering entire units in a single sweep.
X'rer'tes is an HQ choice for a Chaos Space Marine or a Chaos Daemon army.

Thanks,

Well, I'm not familiar with Chaos codexes, so I won't judge his point value vs demon prince.
But, is this guy a MC? If he is, you need that in the Special Rules. If he isn't, why does he get T6, especially without being Nurgle?

Oh yeah I forgot about that. He is essentially supposed to be a special Daemon Prince, I should've mentioned that.

A typical DP is WS 7 but I understand you are trying to stay true to his origins as a 'lowly' soldier.
It think he ought to be T 5 standard for DP that is not Nurgle and there is no indication he should get a boosted toughness. He is very killy with the talons re-rolling failed invulns.
I would put him at somewhere between 220-275 points. Considering his base stats this is...
Base: 80 points
Flight, Invuln: 90 points
Fury, Reroll, Strength: 50 points
That comes to the 220 level, but it is hard to say exactly how he would play on the table. He is essentially a DP with MoT, MoN, Unholy Might, Daemonic Flight and some Boneswords Add in the standard cost of Breath on a DP and you end up closer to the 250 level

I didn't have my Daemon 'dex on me so I thought DP's were S6 and T6 as standard. That can be easily changed. I'll give him a 250 point cost and see what reaction I get. Thanks for your input.

I'd say his pricing is about right. He's not quite the melee monster that Abaddon is, but he's got flight and Wind of Chaos, and those talons make him a pretty darned scary character hunter. His cost is high, but he can do everything (crowd control, tank hunting, character-killing). I definitely wouldn't cost him at lower than 220. 235 or 240 seems appropriate to me.

Yeah, that looks fairly balanced with the points. He seems pretty usable in any list. Definitely a better choice than a greater demon
Two quick things though:
1) Shouldn't he be fearless and Ld 10?
2) I don't remember the rules for Lightning Claws. Could someone give me a refresher? I believe they're power fists with an added bonus, right?

1: Well I want to hint at his Guardsman past, so I thought his Ld shouldn't be the highest there.
2: Lightning Claws are power weapons that can re-roll wounds and you only get the 2 CCW bonus if you have 2 of them.

I also reckon that the DP should be fearless at LD 10. An immortal DP fears little from mortals. I think the guardsman representation should be done on the modelling aspect or through an additional rule.
