Well it's great most of the time. The times it isn't is against magic and dwarf war machines that have magic attacks. You also can't take any magic items with the vamp power that grants ethereal. You would have to take care and point it at the right units but you'd have to do that anyway with wraiths. It's certainly interesting enough to try it out. Last thing I'll mention is that will be one heck of an expensive unit and prone to have every magic damaging spell directed its way.
