Sorry for making yet ANOTHER topic like this (turned up over 20 topics, still have no idea what to go for)

I started out this game with Necrons, and loved the survivalbility of the army
I then moved to the Eldar, and enjoyed a bit of CC, Shooting, Psykers, mobility, and all the good stuff
I've currently been playing (and enjoying) Tau, and having a chuckle at the expense of some local IG armies.

I now want to collect a Pure, In-your-face, Assault army. There are far too many players at my LFGS that play with members of the Imperium, so im having trouble deciding when xenoes to take head-long into some poor firing-line.

Orks and Tyranids are the poster children for xeno-assault armies. I feel your pain, I have a Marine army optimized for shooting, and Eldar army optimized for shooting, and am working on a Tau army. When my Tau are done, it's either Orks or Heretics & Renegades for me, I am tired of dancing around the enemy and shooting at them. I just want to hit something!

Tyranids sound right up your alley as well.

They have some guns, but are definitely a melee army focused on getting right into the enemy. Plus they have some absolutely amazing models.

I'm also in the DE camp, but maybe assaulty CSM might be good too.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Thank you everyone, but what do assault armies have against hardened targets? Land-Raiders and the like

I can only speak for Tyranids, but... Carnifex broods, Trygons, Hive Guard and Zoanthropes are all pretty much designed to shatter armour. Even Hive Tyrants, probably the best non-special HQ unit in the game.

This is, indeed, a problem. I'm going after a big army transporter case, buying it empty and cutting my own foam (foam is pretty cheap), but some of these models are ginormous, and have spikey bits all over them that will grip foam and snap limbs.

That is the case i have.
Other than my gribblies and warriors, I have a Tyrant, 2 carnies and a trygon. I can only fit one more Trygon/Mawloc in and MAYBE another carnifex, although I aspired to get more..

Run an all khorn list. Three squads of 10 in rhinos. Demon prince, and a greater demon of khorn. You can also throw is a defiler if you want. Its an extremely effectinve list. Use meltabombs and power fists to destroy armor.

If you can grit your teeth then I play Blood Angels. Tough and assaulty. If you dont want imperium then I would say Daemons are your best bet, Bloodletters and Daemonettes can pretty much rip apart most units they get their hands/teeth/claws.

Orks, to me, are the most enjoyable selection for this by far. They are all about the CC, but (if you decide to do so), can make a half way decent shooty army, too.

Failing that, I'd suggest CSM. All the fun of Marines, but with more depravity.
