So it's been a while. I just moved back to Japan and started working as a teacher, so free time for models has been short.

Anyhow here is my newest very early WIP.

The jump pack blue tacked onto the SGT.

I totally dig the cautionary stripes on the chainswords. Classic GW fluff is rarely seen these days. I'm also glad to see you swapped heads on your Gamesday SGT. Keep up the good work over there in Nihon. Your librarians look good too.

Wow... I'm really digging the red you have going on- any chance of tips as to how you got that deep color?

Your painting style is also really nice- almost like you actually paint on canvas and transferred it over to miniatures. Either way, keep up the good job.

And one last thing, I also taught in Japan for AEON in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa for a little over 2 years. Whereabouts are you stationed? Jus wondering, as I have no idea how I'd fit all my painting supplies, and minis in my apartment at the time...

In Kyuushu, Fukuoka province in the landlocked part Chikuho about an hour away from Fukuoka City and KitaKyuushu (misspelled).

My reds are a result of layering and inks.

First - Dark flesh, two coats watered down.

Second- Dark flesh/scab red 1:1

Third- scab red

Fourth- Scab red/ Foundation red (the name escapes me) 1:1

Fifth- Foundation red

Sixth- watered down wash of Baal Red

Seventh- Blood Red with Baal red used to smooth instead of water

Eight- Blood Red, two watered down coats.

Nine- Red ink (vallejo inks)

Ten- Highlight with blood red.

Just checking in on your WIP. I have to say that the DC shoulders and red crosses look amazing. You did a great job keeping them clean. I also agree, the saturated colors of your army give it a very unique and touch. It is rare to see colors so vibrant and dynamic....these must not be Citadel. Either that or my eyes have been decieved by a great camera lens!

I use a mix of citadel colors and Vallejo inks.

My exact recipe is in this thread above
