entirely dependent on how you want to deal with this. Quarrelers with GW are good for defending war machines. A Dragon Slayer with RoSmiting and RoFire will put the Kabosh on just about anything that'll hit your back field. You could dedicate something like an organ gun to specifically guard from encroaching threats. Preemptively you could specify one of your cannons to target the dragon and nothing but no matter the out come of other shooting. One shot should be enough to send the thing into the dirt. Alternatively you could take a cheap bolt thrower and take the Rune that give you a +1 to hit flyers.

Lots of options, which do you prefer.

Grudgethrowers/cannons with the correct runes is usually a dead dragon and rider, also throwing a rune of challenge at the dragon from your lord with hammerers will usually do the job.

Cannon with rune of forging
Grudgethrower with rune of accuracy= dead dragon with an engineer your pretty much going to hit with it.

Im running 2 grudge and 3 cannon in 2000 points, and a Deamon slayer, any more options?

Daemon slayer is a pretty inefficient option. Is all that artillery really not getting the job done?

As mentioned above, the MR of Challenge can come in pretty handy. The dragon either has to charge something that can take the hit, leaving your vulnerable artillery untouched, or flee, giving you extra shots anyhow...

I'm surprised all that shooting isnt doing it to the point you got a deamon slayer taking up points in your list, just aim all your artillery at the big lizard and shoot to kingdom come.

Better to let them think you a fool, then open your mouth and proof them right.

How can dwarves possibly have problems with dragons? Esp with 2 grudge throwers and 3 cannons.. Everything gets rerolls and everything does d6 wounds..

If they do charge you, who cares you're steadfast and it should only have 1 wound left

Hmm odd, the only ward save a dragon can actually get is a 6+, unless there is some spell helping out.

Or the dragon player was incorrectly applying a ward save to the dragon from a character riding the dragon.

In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.

Or the dragon is REALLY AWESOME!

Daemon Slayers are an inneficient option.

But they are also an AWESOME option! That's what Daemon slayers do, they slay daemons, or die trying! Dismissing such a flavorful and fun unit in the name of competitive streamlining is never a good thing.

They haven't. Against a Dragon its not the most cost effective option. If he wants to take it he can but he shouldn't sent it after the dragon.

Have your opponent reread the rules about character mounts. Against a Dwarf army with that much artillery most if not all monsters should be dead turn 1 (happens every time I play dwarfs, my hydras are dead turn 1).

What do you send a slayer after, if not the biggest, ugliest, meanest thing on the board?

Use him to speedbump enemy units by challenge blocking

That is decidedly un-slayer like.
